This is a show about destiny vs choice. Imlie is Aditya's taqdeer aka destiny but I want her to be Aditya's choice as she will be. It was very necessary for her to free him so that he can take a step back and see the situation with clarity. Even after Mithie's phone call in the hospital he remembered that she asked him to remove all signs of their marriage. For some one as complex and as layered minded as Aditya, it's a gesture of benevolence and ultimate kindnesses as well as an act of final rejection or dissolution of the marriage.
Because no matter what, Aditya does attach significant importance to these signs of marriage. He lashes at her when she wears them ,but the moment she says she could never wear them for happiness as she never received any out of this marriage , it's he who is reduced to tears. He didn't even like it when Imlie once again offered Pagdandiya's sindur for Malini as a gift, he gave her a look before rejecting all her gifts where there was no reason for him to do so ,as we know later he himself asked back for the gifts. It was ..how else to put it .. a knee jerk reaction to Imlie being so cool with giving away her sindur to Malini.
The night when they had a visceral confrontation between them ,out of the various things she said , the one that came back to his mind immediately after he left the house for the lodge and every time he remembered that specific conversation, the words that had the most effect was ,
" In this country of the Goddess, a women's maang is filled only once...which is done and dusted in my case. Now no one else will come to my life or agree to marry me. I won't get a chance to marry again. "
This sense of permanence of their marriage pervaded his soul. This is the reason no matter how many times he says this is illegal or baseless, it never once occurred him to take any decisive and permanent legal step to dissolve it , though it would've been the first logical step to be taken that would have freed him completely and truly from her. He never wanted that. He was annoyed like anything when the lodge owner wondered why he never took any steps against the villagers. It reminded him how odd his non action against this marriage looks to a bystander.
He ...wanted her to be attached to himself , though he didn't want her for himself. Till now.
He collapsed with shock when Imlie asked him to do it in the ambulance. For he recognized it for what it is , she made him do it instead of asking the nurse or attendees because if it is by him it signifies cutting that thread that ties them , something like ulte phere.
If you've seen today's episode he's grateful and overwhelmed that Imlie has recovered, he sobbed in gratitude to the God , but with Imlie , he was almost cold and distant when he met her for the first time after she gained consciousness. That sense of intimacy is gone that he was showering on her in the ambulance and before that in the pouring rain . He was holding her head tenderly caressing her and almost protectively hugging her with so much love and reassuring her again and again that he is there and he won't let anything happen to her and most importantly he won't ever leave her . It was Aditya the husband speaking to his wife. I don't ever remember him so open, so frank , so utterly devoid of his mask , so exposed almost fragile.
But since she took it back , he's shutting himself back , the mask has snapped into place. He was earlier acting weird around her because the knowledge always burnt in his mind that he's married to her . Now he'll be acting weird for a long long time , because she is no more his.
It's not just about his choice anymore, it's about hers too. And for Aditya her choice is equally important. Aditya was always sure that Imlie wants him , at least wants him in her life as a husband , all his actions were always based on that firm belief. It's like a central theme to the idea that he associated with Imlie.
But now that belief is shaken.
For Imlie , she's safe in that Aditya through his Jerk avatar has ensured since long that he's incapable of choosing her for himself , she doesn't want it because of Malini and she doesn't expect it because she thinks Aditya hates her ( after their fight ) , at least dislikes her enough to not ever think of it.
But for Aditya this is a whole new situation, he can't hide himself behind the blame game anymore. He can't pretend to be afraid of her motives , that she'll betray their secret , the basis of which is destroyed by her. He has to deal with something that is - Imlie is not his anymore. That she has cut the thread of her kite from his. It's overwhelmingly important for him to be assured and shown that yes Imlie still considers him as her husband , that this marriage between them still exists in her mind and heart.
" Hum aap ko rokenge bhi nehi. " Those words hurt him when they were spoken first. He was totally expecting and hoping that she'd make one last attempt to stop him from leaving her. He stalled to see if she does that. She didn't. And he keeps remembering those words.
For Aditya it's vital that she exposes herself to him , she tells him that she chooses him , that she cares what he feels for her or else we will have to deal with this new version of Aditya 3.0 !! The one who is distant and observant, looking for any signs, any positive signals from her side , or else he'll likely cold shoulder her as long as he can. He'll hide behind Moon's pallu and try to live a happy married life with Malini tooth and nail till he reaches his snapping point.
But for Imlie , she'll probably misunderstand this as a sign of him distancing himself for his hatred ( which is non existent) and adapt herself accordingly. Further complications are in the horizon . Folks, I see more air pockets and air turbulence and storms in the horizon. To kursi ki peti bandh rakhiye. Please fasten your seat belts.
