Anyone who does not identify with the gender assigned at birth is transgender (although some prefer nonbinary). Not all people transition because of costs or other health reasons. One does not need to have surgery or even take hormones to be addressed by their chosen identity.

---

I know it is an adjustment for people. I've been his fan from way back in the days of the Indie film Hard Candy. I kept wanting more Kitty Pryde in X-Men and started Umbrella Academy for Elliot Page. It has been disorienting for me to use the right name and pronouns after years of embracing a different identity. But as difficult it is for us to change our thoughts - it's a million times harder for queer and trans folks to come out publicly with their identity.

The least we can do is treat every person with compassion and kindness. We lose nothing referring to people with their chosen names and pronouns. It's the easiest way to make people feel validated.

I want to let you know that I appreciate you & have so much respect for you. You always speak with so much respect and reasoning. Its a rarity in the online world & I'm sure people who know you in real life feel blessed too.

Also love your movie reviews & blog! Stay safe!

Woh biologically ladki hi hain abhi bhi. Just wants to be identified as a man. Hence the use of the word trans. Although nowadays kuch samajh nahi atta, toh don't care. Adult hain, jo karna hain karne do.

So lesbians who had crush on Ellen would become bisexual if they continue having crush on Elliot?

Don’t know if it’s that complicated 😆

What does it mean by identifying as a 'man'? Like the physiological aspects of a man?

As much as I am happy he's come out, I am a bit perplexed about what it means for LGBT community? Unfortunately, there are countries where trans community is not even RECOGNIZED (thankfully, India is not one of them now).

Also, I don't want to be rude but "Them/They" pronouns seem a bit of a stretch to me (just a personal opinion), and are actually inadvertently contributing to a lot of transphobia worldwide, because these "coming out" stories are not taken seriously and are IN FACT mocked these days, because of its complexity.

To all the people who are not able to understand Elliot's gender identity/expression, I just wanna say that it's perfectly OKAY to NOT BE ABLE to understand this.

Gender identity is a complex thing, and getting more complex these days due to all the conversations around gender fluidity

But hey! As a human being, the least you can do is wish them well for their life, and at least TRY to support them. No reason to hate Elliot or people like him, if they aren't bothering you or your life.

Therefore as human being, I wish Elliot all well, and I hope he is at peace now in his life.

You're confusing her with Ellen DeGeneres. That one's the lesbian. This is Elliot Page who was Ellen Page before.
