What? 😲 I never she / he was a trans. Is she now a man?
He identifies himself as a man or he's done surgery? You can't be called a trans person till you transform, no?

Yes Ellen became Elliot
the comments ..
and please use he/they pronouns cos they have clearly said in their twitter bio that he uses he/they ..
and he’s a man cos they came out as trans
Best of luck to her/him.
That must have taken so much courage. More power to him.
He was assigned female at birth and lived most of his life with his birth name and gender, but he identifies as a transman now.

Anyone who does not identify with the gender assigned at birth is transgender (although some prefer nonbinary). Not all people transition because of costs or other health reasons. One does not need to have surgery or even take hormones to be addressed by their chosen identity.

I know it is an adjustment for people. I've been his fan from way back in the days of the Indie film Hard Candy. I kept wanting more Kitty Pryde in X-Men and started Umbrella Academy for Elliot Page. It has been disorienting for me to use the right name and pronouns after years of embracing a different identity. But as difficult it is for us to change our thoughts - it's a million times harder for queer and trans folks to come out publicly with their identity.
The least we can do is treat every person with compassion and kindness. We lose nothing referring to people with their chosen names and pronouns. It's the easiest way to make people feel validated.
