I wouldn't say that, most Indian singers are REALLY good and are talented. Also, the music industry is larger, singers are easily able to sing across movie industries within India. You will seldom find a mainstream singer who hasn't sung in any other language. It takes more than talent to sustain in the industry. Most singers with unique voices are able to sustain for a longer period. Especially if their genre is popular at the time.
There are many classical singers too, who tour across the globe.
I have to disagree with you here. I mainly speak Hindi and watch Hindi singing shows. Some of my favourite singers are from these shows. After the show is over, there might be a few who get work, but the rest disappear while today's generation of singers who are getting billions of views use autotune, can't sing live, recycle old tunes and do mumble rap. So that's definitely not fair. How come true talent doesn't get a chance?
I have heard some in regional cinemas, but not everyone would have exposure to those. One because language barrier and two coz the audience doesn't know that some regions have cinemas/music industry yet.
Yes most mainstream singers do sing in regional languages. But again like I said, either we are not aware or those industries are not that huge yet. Indian entertainment industry's major chunk is Hindi speaking Bollywood, followed by South.
Touring round the globe does not mean that they have achieved mainstream success. They could be doing cover versions live. Classical is a different genre altogether and it works differently so can't club that with what I want to say.
I am not saying every singer out there has to go crazy with their notes like Salman Ali, but there are some much better reality show singers who could really elevate half the songs that are released today...but they dont get the chance and that's unfair. Vibhor Parashar, Adriz Ghosh, Saumya Chakraborty, Ankush Bhardwaj are some superb male voices. I hope they get mainstream work coz they truly deserve it.
