Oh I remember this show!

Never watched it fully but did wonder where the winners or other contestants were now 😕

Isn't that the sad state of affairs of the entertainment industry. TV is looked down upon although some of the best looking talents are from television. Web shows are now considered sub-elite coz few mainstream actors are a part of it. Whereas tbh the entertainment industry needs TALENT and not elitism...smh.

Same with reality shows...some of my favourite singers are from Indian Idol or SRGMP who are amazingly talented...but we get autotune singers that cross a billion views on YouTube

This remind me that people in 65 had better ethics

Rajesh Khanna was one of eight finalists from more than 10,000 contestants in the 1965 All India Talent Contest, organised by United Producers and Filmfare, along with other FTII students Subhash Ghai and Dheeraj Kumar.Rajesh Khanna won the contest along with Farida Jalal.BR Chopra, Bimal Roy, GP Sippy, HS Rawail, Nasir Husain, J.Om Prakash, Mohan Saigal, Shakti Samanta and Subodh Mukherji and others had created the United Producers organisation and were then judges of the contest.

He made his film debut in the 1966 film Aakhri Khat, directed by Chetan Anand, followed by Raaz, directed by Ravindra Dave, both of which were a part of his predetermined prize for winning the All-India United Producers' Talent Competition. G.P. Sippy and Nasir Hussain were the first to sign Rajesh Khanna after he won the contest.Aakhri Khat was India's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 40th Oscar Academy Awards in 196

Lmao people still believe these reality shows? Everyone including the contestants know very well what they are getting into before signing up for the show since it anyways looked like just another reality show than anything else. Zee tried to do this earlier with Cinestars ki Khoj and their movie Khanna and Iyer bombed badly on box office.

And so many participants of these reality shows are usually already a part of the industry working behind the scenes or in front of it, just like India's Best Dancer which has so many participants from other dance shows.

Also the winner's insta says he is assisting on Takht

I wouldn't say that, most Indian singers are REALLY good and are talented. Also, the music industry is larger, singers are easily able to sing across movie industries within India. You will seldom find a mainstream singer who hasn't sung in any other language. It takes more than talent to sustain in the industry. Most singers with unique voices are able to sustain for a longer period. Especially if their genre is popular at the time.

There are many classical singers too, who tour across the globe.

Nope , my point is almost everyone except Winners got acting jobs post the show. (not via kjo or rs)

The ads they featured in were their earlier works .

The so called judges didn't select 'winners' as per their performance in show but looks , they literally sideline potential winners and announced mediocre finalists as winners 🤪

But yeah ! Even if it's just TV shows they're atleast doing something whereas winners who were 'supposedly' given movie contracts haven't even done supporting roles yet 😆

These people were just fooling audience. I guess this show came around Nepo debate ignited by Kangana 😆

People actually take whatever chance they get to appear onscreen. Everyone knows its getting nowhere.😆

Didn't you read the piece by TOI on how mediocre contestants get ahead because they pay the producers or showrunners? Everything is scripted as far as reality shows are concerned in India. I think at this point, the contestants looks for exposure more than being chosen.

Kangu attended that show right? 😆

I have to disagree with you here. I mainly speak Hindi and watch Hindi singing shows. Some of my favourite singers are from these shows. After the show is over, there might be a few who get work, but the rest disappear while today's generation of singers who are getting billions of views use autotune, can't sing live, recycle old tunes and do mumble rap. So that's definitely not fair. How come true talent doesn't get a chance?

I have heard some in regional cinemas, but not everyone would have exposure to those. One because language barrier and two coz the audience doesn't know that some regions have cinemas/music industry yet.

Yes most mainstream singers do sing in regional languages. But again like I said, either we are not aware or those industries are not that huge yet. Indian entertainment industry's major chunk is Hindi speaking Bollywood, followed by South.

Touring round the globe does not mean that they have achieved mainstream success. They could be doing cover versions live. Classical is a different genre altogether and it works differently so can't club that with what I want to say.

I am not saying every singer out there has to go crazy with their notes like Salman Ali, but there are some much better reality show singers who could really elevate half the songs that are released today...but they dont get the chance and that's unfair. Vibhor Parashar, Adriz Ghosh, Saumya Chakraborty, Ankush Bhardwaj are some superb male voices. I hope they get mainstream work coz they truly deserve it.

Do you have any specific auto tune mainstream singers in mind?

When I think of Bollywood singers I think of Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit, Sunidhi, Javed Ali, Mohit Chauhan, Asha Bhosle, Rekha Bhardwaj, neeti Mohan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhna Sargam, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Shaam

All of them are phenomenal singers.

I can say Atif Aslam has terrible moments but he still has a unique voice.

Barring Arijit and Atif most of the names u have given have great voices. But I mean the generation after that. Most of the new names who've come up in the last 3-4 years. And names kya dena, aap labels ke YouTube pe jaake dekhiye saare naye singers ke naam.
