I'm in the financial services industry (keeping it general) and being a workaholic is second nature to my career. A good week requires me to put in 50-65 hours/week because there is no such thing as 9 to 5 anymore. During busy seasons, it can go up to 80-85 hours including weekends.
I'm also a fitness freak and spent 1-2 hours in the gym whether it's in the morning or at night (before covid). Keeping my foot in a highly demanding corporate job and my passion for fitness at the same time has been not only challenging but even unrealistic most of the time.
A lot of people have been conditioned to believe that you have to outdream, outhustle and outgrind everyone else. But workaholism is NOT and shouldn't be a desirable lifestyle. So many companies love to chant "work-life balance" but do very little to incorporate it in their work culture.
Being a part of a corporate giant, however, they don't sweat the small stuff and the biggest takeaway for me has been so many accomplished and interesting people I've met within my work sphere.
My goal as of now (cuz it keeps changing) is to invest in my own business or set something up of my own after a couple of years.
