Well I'm not workholic . But I don't like to keep any pending work .

Luckily that I have never been stressed out in my current company due to work . All things seems to be cool , it's about completing the task withing the timelines .

If I want to complete this task then I won't let any other person to complete that task. But if I don't want to work then kisi ke baap ki himaat nahi hai mere se kaam karvane ki 😆

That's how I follow . I follow my mind .😆

Yes right here

I burnout at an alarmingly quick rate

I’m in my mid twenties and just realising how deterimental that is

I have anxiety issues and as a result, tend to work much more than required of me and overcompensate in the fear that I might not be “good enough” or “doing enough”

I also somehow take accountability of things I am not responsible for aswell , in a control freak kinda way...

But I realised my patterns Are not doing me any good now

Trying to maintain a balance and switch off to get some space every now and then

I'm in the financial services industry (keeping it general) and being a workaholic is second nature to my career. A good week requires me to put in 50-65 hours/week because there is no such thing as 9 to 5 anymore. During busy seasons, it can go up to 80-85 hours including weekends.

I'm also a fitness freak and spent 1-2 hours in the gym whether it's in the morning or at night (before covid). Keeping my foot in a highly demanding corporate job and my passion for fitness at the same time has been not only challenging but even unrealistic most of the time.

A lot of people have been conditioned to believe that you have to outdream, outhustle and outgrind everyone else. But workaholism is NOT and shouldn't be a desirable lifestyle. So many companies love to chant "work-life balance" but do very little to incorporate it in their work culture.

Being a part of a corporate giant, however, they don't sweat the small stuff and the biggest takeaway for me has been so many accomplished and interesting people I've met within my work sphere.

My goal as of now (cuz it keeps changing) is to invest in my own business or set something up of my own after a couple of years.

80-85 hrs is huge. Seriously I can never ever think of working for those hours .

Work life balance should be there .

Tell me about the fires... it was pitch dark an entire day last week and it's only clearing up now. I can't even go jogging with my mask on like before cuz the air quality is SO bad.

Social media is so meh ..... FB is good to connect with your fam/friends but unless you're an influencer making money off your insta posts, I don't even see the point of making all that effort to put up so many stories and posts.😆

A typical day goes from 8-9 in the morning to 1-2 am. By the end of a month or two of doing that like clockwork, you feel like you just woke up from one long nightmare. I know it's brutal but thankfully I don't intend to keep doing it in the long run. I don't think most of the people do ... it's a part of "paying your dues" for a couple of years for a better, more flexible future.

Although there are some masochists who actually enjoy it. 😆

I definitely relate to your post too--being needlessly apologetic about tiny errors that everyone makes and holding up more than our end of the bargain when someone else isn't doing their job properly.

That's why it's really important to remove yourself from wherever you are every now and then to change the self-conversation that goes on in your head daily. You're pretty young though... plenty of time for that.

And you’re active here... You’re a superwoman 👍🏼

When shit needs to get done, then yes. But I absolutely refuse to do those kind of hours on the regular. It’s not practical, it’s freakin exhausting and not healthy plus it comes at the cost of a social life/your relationship with others. I don’t think i’d ever be on my deathbed thinking ‘damn, wish I worked more hours at the office’. So i’m at the point where i’ll do whatever it takes to continue climbing up the career ladder but never to an extent where I’m sacrificing my social life/me time to the point where i’m unhappy.

Don’t believe social media ya’ll. You see the champagne glasses clinking at rooftap bars with the LV bags and Valentino shoes, you don’t see the ridiculous grind night after night working at client offices because the partners keep shitting on the juniors. (Including senior managers)

Right? I accidentally left my windows open and all the smoke got in, and I don’t have AC, so the heat and smoke really got to me this week. I didn’t even go grocery shopping bc all the produce would be covered in flithy air... It’s finally clearing up.

Agreed about social media. Also, it just really effs with you mentally.
