Not really. I just enjoy working cause it helps me lead the life I want to. No compromises. Earlier it was all travel and fun while working and now it's making more solid investments, being an angel investor while at home. But I can't wait to get back to the travel the world and work lifestyle. That's my jam. Hopefully, from December!

Anyways, I don't plan on working from 33-35 onwards. Life after that would be all about reaping the benefits of big investments I am making now. I just don't want a rich, comfortable life at home forever, that I can get without working even now. But I want to keep travelling around the world luxuriously as long as my body allows me to so gotta put in the hustle now/ make those solid investments that last for a lifetime.

The work-life balance though- its always a tricky thing in one's 20s when one is ambitious and am supremely ambitious. But I spend half the year travelling with my doggos and as much time as I can with my parents, friends, family when am in Kolkata. So I try.

These workaholics have ruined work culture for the rest of the sane folks.

Since we all want those incentives and promotions and a healthy career growth, we do work hard. But how do you compete with those who are over enthusiastic and work late nights and on weekends too? They may not have a life but the rest of us do!

When I see some people get promoted ahead of me, I see it's because they have compromised some part of their life, personal time, family time, etc. I can never do that.

Maybe I can do that in emergency situations, but I can't do it for a lifetime. It's easier to do in your 20s because you're free and have fewer responsibilities. But as I approach my 30s, it is clear I'll have to take a different approach and can't work in the same way.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm only available for eight hours. And I'll be at your disposal. Use my abilities in the best manner possible and I'll be fully productive. But don't expect me to slog 12-14 hours a day and still turn up very enthusiastic the next day. It may work in short term but in the longer term, you'll burnout before you are 40-45. And these companies will kick you out if you don't keep working. So you need to be careful with the kind of working styles you choose.

I chose to make short-term compromises (ie, a delayed promotion) over a long-term compromise (a quick burnout and no social life leading up to a mid-life crisis).

Read something today which I would like to share:

I don’t understand the quote about capitalism...

In what other system you don’t have to work? You have to show productivity except if you’re lucky enough to get a Gov. job 😛

Factory and farm workers used to work from dawn to dusk still were only able to make hand to mouth existence

Social media, Internet etc are the result of capitalism

Even Bernie Sanders became millionaire using capitalistic principles
(He used to attack millionaires when blaming rich people for all the ills of society but later he started mentioning only billionaires)

I'm trying to change my nature. My mentor thinks that I've an unhealthy obsession to my work. Maybe because I've dreamt of this career since my teen n has been hustling since I was 17. I do lack an identity beyond my work. I know like 2-3 people beyond my work circle.

I work in events and communications. I used to work so much harder when I was an intern. Now after working full time over the past few years I’ve definitely become lazy. When I have tight deadlines or big events then yes I am on it but otherwise I can be a bit meh about my responsibilities. I will always do my work within time but never ASAP the way I used to do before 😆

A big reason for this is we have sooo many meetings 🤬. I’m half drained by the end of them and they are so pointless.

Not by choice.....Currently doing two jobs, completing my education-a degree, diploma, 3 self learning courses, helping my girl in 10th standard study, helping my jr. kg boy learn to write, and making videos for my students (work as a teacher) while handling three children, cooking and cleaning thanks to the lockdown. I do tend to get antsy when i am not multitasking.
