@b an identical list here😃 (my love for Sanskrit is indefinite)

@bold A relative of mine visited us last year and the couple had a sweet 2.5 years old daughter. When I asked the baby girl "Tula chocolate pahije?"(Do you want chocolate) her mother stated that she didn't know Marathi and only understands English.I asked her why so and she replied what is the need to learn unnecessary languages and burden the mind. I was like😲😲😲

I would love to expand my knowledge of Sanskrit but then I don't have time at present

I don't know if I am right but I feel Bollywood has a bit of influence on our minds. The actors always glorify english and western manners and indirectly demean regional languages. I agree that English is important and many western manners are useful but so are Indian values. You just have to think with a sane mind and follow the right things. I agree that not all Indian values are correct today but many of them are still good.

Eg. Bollywood is running behind turning their skin white which is not necessary. You should love your skin colour as it's dependent on many climatic as well as biological factors.

Sorry if I bored you with my rant.

It has been in my mind to take some courses in Spanish and possibly Cantonese for some time but never got the actual time. I think cultural arts/music also play an aspect of learning the Indian culture like being exposed to Kathak (or other Indian dances), Bollywood/Bhangra, Latin Dances, and piano at an early age because I wanted to learn the best of both worlds.

I think a lot of people would think we are "white-washed" but we aren't. In fact, all of my American friends love Indian Culture! I've seen YT videos where people would ask Indian residents (I know its small representation because Indians love all their guests and served them with love) stereotyping a lot of stuff shown on TV like there is more than the stereotypical rep of an American; it's a melting pot! Just because we have American mannerisms/thinkings doesn't mean that we don't respect the Indian culture.

@that's great Meena👍🏼

@underlined this is what I was saying. Indians nowadays have started thinking that the world respects you only if you speak English and follow western culture which ain't true. We should learn to respect our own culture and adapt the good values from other cultures. There's nothing wrong in taking in good values and accepting other cultures while respecting your own culture. I have seen many people leaving Indian culture completely just to look cool🥱

I do know some Marathis (or other regional people like Gujjus, Punjabis, etc ) who cannot speak Hindi or try to speak Hindi that's more suitable in their region. Like I would speak Hindi but there is an accent because my English is spoken differently in comparison to my Indian counterparts.

It's good that they are atleast speaking their own mother tongue. Hindi actually is spoken in UP, MP, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Delhi, etc mainly with their own accents so gujjus, marathis, punjabis, bengalis, speak with their own flavour. Hindi isn't followed in South India as their regional languages are completely different and they prefer folllowing it. I feel it's alright as they respect their own culture.

You gotta have that accent girl!

A classmate of mine hails from Delhi but she doesn't speak hindi because she thinks her image might fall. She doesn't eat samosa, chaat etc.😆 I am sure she is gonna regret not having this food. She feels everything about India is negative🤢
