It didn't bother me too much but yeah it would be nice to have someone who could relate to my "indian-ness" but in college I met a group of Indian-American Kids like me. They seemed fine at first but were very judgmental. I never felt like I fit in. Then one time, someone used the word "white-washed" for me which was super offensive. But, it's like I don't need to prove to anyone how Indian or how American I am.

My current friend group is actually all second-generation kids coming from different cultures. It's really amazing because we share each other's cultures and often end up finding similarities. But, my best friend was accidentally born white 😆 she loves learning about other cultures but she doesn't "exoticize" or appropriate it which I appreciate. It's so much fun learning from each other and sharing your culture.
