Cocktail: Why does everyone hate Meera so much?

She never wanted to betray her friend Veronica. The kiss with Gautam happened in the heat of the moment and she immediately confessed it to her, not wanting to keep it in the dark.

Also, most importantly, Veronica and Gautam were not a serious couple. They were just f*ck-buddies. He never claimed to love Veronica.

So what's the outrage for?

I don't think anyone hates Meera. But the question is, out of all the fish in the sea, why did she fall in love with Gautam? She could have kept a safe distance from him.

F*ck-buddies or not, Veronica and Gautam were living together. The seriousness of the relationship(or lack of it) was not for Meera to decide. It was for the parties involved. Meera should have respected her boundaries and stayed away from Gautam.

One mistake the director made was he showed Veronica Gautam's relationship in a montage song. In the Daru Desi song it was shown they used to date other people while they were in a no-strings attached relation. Gautam pushed Veronica to other guys so that she could go on a date or have ONS with the guy then there was a scene Veronica was chit chatting with a white guy in a pub, most likely her date, while Gautam and Meera watching football match at other corner of that pub. Mistake #2 since it was shown Veronica had been seeing other guys... he should have shown Gautam had been seeing other girls as well. Indian audience don't like stories told through montages... jo dikhna tha seedha seedha dikhana tha.

I didn’t hate tje girls i hated Gautam. He was an eff boy who in the end wants a sati savitri girl after running wild in the whole town. I hate men like that and he deserved Veronica not Meera.

All of a sudden he was seeing Veronica differently when if I was Meera I would be judging HIM.

Veronica was a woman who lived life on her own terms until meeting MummyJi. Ronnie took in another woman who was in need of help.

Meera was shown to be judgemental though that was portrayed as something good. Still, she wasn't malicious or hypocritical.

Both women were too good for the jerk. He should've ended up alone and with syphilis.

The only person I hate is Gautam and not Meera. Meera and Veronica is a beautiful portrayal of a homosocial relationship.

However it's just a little weird that out of all people she fell in love with Gautam knowing Veronica is dating him. Besides, who said they were f*** buddies? Just because the relationship seemed casual and Veronica didn't show much attachment to anyone, people assumed this.

This is the problem. However I don't think Meera was at fault.

Not hate her but I never got her falling for Gautam. But I guess it makes sense in a way that she comes from a conservative upbringing and probably made her fall in love with probably the first man she had the most interaction with.

Also I agree, it was Gautam who was the worst and most annoying character in the film.

How I wish Meera and Veronica ended up together, I honestly thought thats what was gonna happen the way their relationship started/also let's not forget the visuals of Veronica dancing with girl in the beginning. I fully thought she is a bisexual. And V-M also had some of the best chemistry. This would have made the film an ALL TIME GREAT imo, had this been the plot. What a lost opportunity, these are the times when BW sucks.

She did not consciously do anything. Kiss happened in the heat of the moment. After that she tried to reason with Gautam as to why they should not be doing this.

Then, she immediately alerted Veronica about the current status.

Not Meera but Gautam is to be hated, he is the guy who came in between two very good friends and destroyed their relationship. Heights is the story goes on to blame Meera for it.

Gautam has the best of all worlds and he isn't held responsible!!
