Outdated. Forget the Alok Nath "a family that eats together, prays together stays together" that most people don't relate to anymore. Even a less preachy film like Vivaah was so, so outdated and cringy. Amrita's character in that movie was not in touch with reality and in today's date she would be seriously criticized.

Considering that families have changed, today's family movies are not the preachy type. They look different and talk about different things. One of the biggest themes in Gully boy was family. Most Ayushmann movies are family related. Kapoor and sons, piku, secret superstar were also family movies. They are just written differently for today's audience. They have more complexities and layers to story and less moral preaching.

Vivah , I remember I loved that movie when I was 11 love would have been small word I was obsessed with the movie in fact my whole class was obsessed with it... Watched it few days ago and Ugggghhh I was frustrated would be an understatement.

Poonam is far backward than all the 90s badjatya heroines. At least All of them had character and Personalities ... And all his 90s prem have some goals and aspirations beyond love but nope 2006 prem just wants to get married to girl he talks once a week... Where she does ha hmmm. Because apparently they are in love, how do we know that? Because prem knows she likes to read hindi upanyaas and refers water as 'jal' and poonam knows that prem will catch cold if drinks jal with ice...

Most of Ayushman's movies are family drama types, right? 🤔 Just middle class family, not the crazy rich type. Also a bit more realty based characters.

Yeah they are basically the updated version of family dramas for this generation...plus a lot more realism and less glamour!
