But all the same, wouldn't it be nice to just swim back into the enticing yuga of the Mahaa-bha-aaa-arat (admit it you sang that too) once again, and keep a closer watch than ever, to every step and to every click!

Fasten your seat-belts, for here comes a new set of threads,

A new way to look at all the things,

More in depth this time...

Every scene, and every word uttered on the screens,

We present to you, the very first

Yep, you read that right -> Character of the Week!

Just in case you're unsure of what to do, here's what we'll do:

Every week, one supporting character (i.e. excluding Krishna, or Pandavas&Draupadi or Duryodhana) will be given and we will all take a trip down our memory lanes and discuss, appreciate and scrutinize the overall presentation of the character in the show as well as his/her relevance/appearances in the actual epic.

Rules

Just like every other thread out here there will have to be some rules:

Please follow IF COC at all times

Please do not compare the characterization/acting/presentation of the characters with their counterparts from any other version of Ramayana

Please do not discuss in any shape or form the offscreen/personal life of the characters mentioned

This Dhritarashtra has been impressive. I really like the actor, and the 'blind' feel he brings with him, so so real!

Yep, his portrayal was amazing. All of this evil but not-so-evil vibes he gives! 😵

The character itself was mostly a weak and confused soul, but the eay he egged on the entire dyuta sabha situation, that's one cold-hearted move!

Also, I would like to admit that he's been cute though.🤣

Dyutsabha has been everyone's weak point I guess and this one was already so weak🤔

So I didn't expect him to do much, specially when Dury was on fire like that. But not doing ANYTHING was a bit too much, given the extreme situation.

I've always wondered this - had things been different if he wasn't blind?

If Dhrity had not been blind, MB might have been avoided. However even that would depend on when Yudi and Dury were born. 😃

I'd like to appreciate the brilliance of Girija Shankar. 👏

He flawlessly portrayed the blind king's fears, insecurities, and conflicts arising out of his ambitions and blind love towards his son.

Maybe the war would be delayed by another generation?

Especially if Dury turned out the way he did. Nothing might change also.

Because, eyes or no eyes Dhrity was philosophically blind, he would still sit silent like he did.

I don't get the character exemption part. Why shouldn't we discuss the exempted characters in sticky threads like these? Except the Pandava twins, every other character is the subject of long discussions and scrutiny.

This thread is made to appreciate actors/characters that we focus on less. For the main characters, people by default make threads and we discuss na.

It's not about NOT discussing them, but more like focus on the lesser discussed people. Of course every character deserves to be discussed. 😳
