Yeah, so they showed today that Maya's interpreting the Gita to suit her situation and her vengeance. It's not wrong to have one's own interpretations. However, it means she isn't the right person to learn morality from. Coz her sense of moral compass is completely tilted and skewed. I'd mentioned this earlier as well, and this is why I couldn't see Rudra learning from her, what he is though, is learning because of her presence in his life.
She's the Krishna in her own life and she's trying to redeem herself from her past. But Krishna guided Arjun, did not entrap him in deceit and myth. Here Maya is doing just that. And that's why I don't see the Krishna-Arjun parallel here.
I hope with the future episodes we will get to review this post again.
To be honest, I still believe it's a parallel of Krishna-Arjun bond at the moment between them. Obviously Maya's actions cannot be compared to the Lord but her circumstances are also not comparable. We are in Kalyug and so the people, the morality, nothing is similar to the Dwaparyug of the Lord. Maya is also going to grow as the story progresses. Talking of tricks though, Krishna is the Lord of Maya. He played several tricks on the battlefield and they were justified coz they were played to make truth win over evil. For example, he made Arjun kill Bhishma using Shikandini by first threatening to kill Bhishma himself using the sudarshan chakra.
Maya thinks she is following the Lord's teachings. Maybe she sees tricks as the only Way to gain Rudras patronage. Let's see when the realization hits her that an eye for an eye makes the world blind. She does need to confront the moral questions in the future, especially seeing how Rudra questions her on things. Maybe Rudra will be her conscience?
Btw, just as a disclaimer, this is purely a discussion post for drawing parallels. Mean no offense. I love the Mahabharata and am a follower of Lord Krishna.
