this is why i dont learn under Pakistani teachers...i studied under teachers from university of madinah :D
That's great! 😊
My teacher is a Pakistani.
I like courses offered by Sister Farhat Hashmi and her daughters, too.
It only matters to me that the teacher is teaching haq and what they are teaching is making us more connected to Allah.

I didn't know that there was more than one dua e istiftah other than thana.
I know that listening to music and watching dramas is not allowed. Hopefully I'll be able to get rid of this gradually.

For me it was the Isha salah, I had no idea there are other ways of praying witr. I was taught like the maghreb salah, which is wrong. I didnt know i could pray just one witr. When my teacher in KSA found out how many rakahs we pray in isha in Pakistan, she was shocked😆
I also listen to Farhat hashmi. scholars like Yasir Qadhi are from Pakistan but follow Quran and sunnah and have studied in madinah i Believe.

the sunnah way to pray witr from what i learnt is 3 (you can still do 1 or 5 or any odd number) but its not to be prayed like maghrib...instead after the second rakaat we do the tasleem and then pray the third rakaat on its own. Is that how you do it too?

No offence to anyone here who follows these people but i was told that farhat hashmi, yasir qadhi, noman ali khan, mufti menk etc are not authentic scholars and to avoid them because in the past they have made some mistakes while teaching. I dont wanna go into too much detail here because I know everyone will have their different views regarding this.
As far as i know bilal philips is authentic and if ou want to gain knowledge by reading authentic books following quran and sunnah (they are written by very old scholars in Arabic but have been translated into English by other people) you can get them here
sorry if i offended anyone once again but as muslim sisters its our duty to help and guide each other

I like bilal philips as well. Sheikh assim al hakeem is good, too. Yusuf estes
Being humans it's obvious they will make mistakes. I don't take them as "heroes" , we have the ambiya and the sahaba and the tabieen. It's wrong to put someone on a pedestal. They are just a means to understand Quran and sunnah.
I feel it's become the social media culture where everyone's background is dug and prodded. Something once came out about a teacher's personal life. It became problematic because people put such people on pedestals which is wrong. We only have to be respectful.
Thanks for the link but I prefer learning from a teacher such a book since it's very old and sometimes the language gets complicated since language keeps changing with time
Likewise I respect all the ayma ikram and appreciate their hardwork. But if I come across a saheeh hadith that contradicts them then I'll follow that hadith. They were humans, maybe they hadn't heard of that hadith.
There are several reliable ahadith that describe the prophet praying witr in different ways. Keep switching how you pray witr so that you have followed all the different ways. He switched to switch it up too.
