I don’t know which time period you are talking about but Rani was always ahead of Ash. After Kajol, she was the best actress during 2000’s that can act. I heard Salman recommended Ash to SLB’s next movie. SLB give importance to beauty more than acting. So whoever play Paru have to be really attractive and beautiful but Madhuri stole the movie. There was a poll on IF that I made few months ago about who acted better in Devdas and 90% people voted for Madhuri.

Most people watched Devdas for Madhuri and SRK and of course for the famous story that was written by famous Bengali writer. I think Ash never focused on her acting. Most beautiful woman in the world went to her head and she became so obsessed with it. She is still sucking that to stay in the limelight. When people praise you so much for your look, then you would forget about other things and think so high for yourself. I saw that kind of situations to many people.

In a weird sort of way her celebrity status never diminished inspite of her BO performance if that makes sense. She's not doing films and she's still more important than her husband. Who knows where her career could have been if she wasn't being boycotted by BW on the behalf of the khans at a crucial time of her career. Considering she still went on to have Jodha Akbar/ Dhoom etc after the fall out shows she survived quite well.

That’s not true if you think people watched movie for madhuri, her box office pull diminished post 1995 her only hit being in DTPH. The movie was heavily promoted on srk and ash jhodi and ash and Sanjay leela bhansali team and srk first with bhansali, your under delusion if you think this was madhuri film, she had a small role and ash was the leading actress. Interms of biggest female star of that era ash was ahead of all her fellow actresses, Rani definitely was the more powerful talented actress but ash was the bigger star. If we consider flops most the top actresses of that era didn’t have more than 7 hits, and she did some movies which were not commercial like raincoat.

No. But she (and Kareena) had hype. Even before giving any hit film, her statue was in Madam Tussauds. (Before any Khans). She got media's attention because she was acting in Gurinder Chadha's movie. Also the tag of world's most beautiful woman.

When she thought she was at peak, she wanted to encash it and produced the movie "Dil Ka Rishta" with Arjun Rampal as leading hero. It miserably flopped.

Rani had more hits. But credits of her films mainly went to Sharukh. (Both were acting under Yashraj banner).,But during her peak, she was able to give hits with others too. She gave Sathiya, a hit movie with Vivek. Aishwarya could not. Rani gave Humtum with Saif.

Aishwarya's earlier successful films were because of costars or directors. (Taal was by Subhash Ghai. Other hit movies had Salman or Sharukh). But she started tasting success later (near to her wedding). Started with Guru. Then her movies with Hritik. But age and motherhood came in. Katrina replaced her.

I’m not talking about Kajol her peak ended in 1999. I’m taking whole decade into account not just 2 years where Rani tasted success, but whole decade analysis. Both had 7 clean success each, ash had 2 top grossers one being all time grosser Dhoom 2 as the main lead actress and Rani had none. Flops affected Rani but it didn’t affect ash who was still getting big movies but after marriage and giving birth to baby she took long break away from limelight.

Well 90% voted for ash as the best actress in the movie in award show so that silly poll doesn’t carry weight and she stole the show in dola re dola song. Madhuri role was same length as jacku dada.

She was termed as so..but then Preity too joined the race..finally it was Rani who was termed no.1 from 2003 to 2005.

I remember there were so many years where Ash-Preity-Rani were the Top 3 alternating positions. I think these three were rulling from 1999 to 2007.

2007- Kareena peaked with JWM and 2008 was Priyanka's.........and then it was Vidya's time.
