I mean Batti Gul had an popular single screen darling, a relevant story(although end product was meh) and a hit music, still failed to make any impact. Nor it has faced any negative pre release atmosphere like VD, RK, RS and TS have faced. I think with same level of padding and script, VD, RK and RS will at present moment give bigger box office returns and opening than Shahid. Tiger ki tatti acting means he is genre limited.

And every portal which ranks star power, ranks then above him, so it isn't like I am making outlandish claims.

Although this movie can be a turning point in Shahid's career, he is a good actor, arguably better than the four(definitely than VD and TS), so this might change it for him.

I'm not saying you are making outlandish claims. RK, RS, Varun, are bigger than Shahid, point taken(Tiger, I've doubts after SOTY 2 performance). But that's because they have tasted more success, which I already mentioned is because of WOM, not star power. Their movies open at same level compared to John or Shahid, and that's with padding, so that means they are not really that big as they are made out to be.

My main problem is with your analogy of Shahid being compared to Saif, and RK, RS etc being compared to Khans or HR. Saif's first solo hit was not even in 90s. His first solo hit was in 2004 with Hum Tum. Shahid today has much bigger fanbase compared to Saif in 90s, and RK, RS and likes obviously have no comparison with Khans even in 90s.

And by portal if you are talking about ormax then I stopped believing in it after they ranked Rajkumar Rao in their list whose movies open in lacs.

Shahid's time is over now. He has missed the boat. Some hits here and there from now on if he picks up right projects but he will never be what he could've been.

If Shahid's career mirrors anyone maybe Akshay. 10 years of on/off success and then he went into high mode. I thought after Haider Shahid would keep up. But again he had flops. This could very wel be a new beginning for Shahid or it could be one final success. Time will tell. But to say he is bigger star then Ranveer Singh 😆
