But that's wishful thinking

Parties make use of the already existing divisions, may be even strengthen them sometimes. That is democratic politics everywhere, for good or for bad. It is very difficult for even the most educated to analyze the performance of government objectively and vote according to that. And sometimes even impossible because of lack of proper data and huge amount of variables. Like if I ask anyone here including myself, to give an objective analysis of UPA-2 vs NDA-2 government, whether pro-BJP, pro-Congress or neutral, none of us will be able to argue any case effectively. Even Chidambaram and Jaitley will be incapable of doing so on macro and microeconomics front. Therefore to simplify this for everyone, party ideologies broadly become the decisive factor in voting. That is how it is.

How is consuming beef someone's 'personal' choice when the impact affects us all?

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/jul/21/giving-up-beef-reduce-carbon-footprint-more-than-cars

I support beef-ban for environmental causes. Also, being an animal lover I'd like to say that the choice is not 'personal' when it involves an animal that does not want to die.

Then next vegans will demand everyone should give up on meat all together. I think a govt should work of the more massive pollution causes first then go for people's food habits. And we all know polution is not the reason for beef issue in India. At the end of the day food habits r part of culture n palates you can't force Italians to only eat veg pizza or people to eat only veg biriyani. People will riot

Congratulations PM Modi for winning with such a big mandate all over again..this is bigger than 2014 simply because this was an incumbent government and he was fighting more on account of his own performance in the last 5 years than the messy scam driven Congress govt in 2014.

India is progressing and improving on all counts, Modi and his team laid down some solid economic reforms in GST, RERA, Swacchh Bharat, Digital India, progression towards Cashless economy, Toilets for all, electrification and all those Jan Dhan yojnas..ETC ETC and NONE OF THOSE were exclusively for HINDUS..

It was not a wave, but a silent tsunami and thankfully India made the right choice!

^^ Yeah, its also important to critique the government, because constructive criticism is necessary for improvement in functioning..arrogance almost took BJP down to a 50% chance of come back in mid 2018 for this election.

But the problem is that Congress is a really weak and bogus opposition party which lacks credibility..when people vote for Modi, they vote (specifically the educated ones) on account of delivered development model of Gujarat and also the decisive style of leadership..

Rahul could not even uplift Amethi..its in shambles..and he has no prestige left..leading Congress into two nightmarish elections for that party..his political career for sure is in a bad shape..I mean they have no vision..NYAY scheme was actually a good idea..but he does not even know how to multiply numbers..

.

That is where Kerala plays smart. They never let anyone stay too long. Five years and you're out.

WB should learn from it

I agree. Constructive criticism is very important, that is why I said name-calling opposing thoughts will make no sense cz a country with one party no opposition no disagreement will become dictatorship. Specially public should always be encouraged to give their views be it opposing or supporting.

Congress is a very weak party that people just fears to trust anymore. On top of that Rahul is not made for politics. They should break the family rule n bring someone fresh n intelligent
