Great thread idea, tina.😊
I go by instinct. There has to be a connect , for me, to like someone so much that I become a 'fan'.
Although, that being said, I will voice my opinions if I feel they are doing something that's not right (even if other fans won't like me for it) or I defend them if I feel they are unnecessarily bashed in here.
In general with Western movies and fanbases I feel they are very used to people criticising their faves when they don't act that great or they do stupid stuff that they try hide from GP.They seem to understand that not everyone will like their fave and even join in criticism if it has merit (well some fans, not the stans).
BW and IF is a strange world in this sense. Stars seem to be put on sa pedestal, adored without question, most times-IMO. There are a few stans that will not understand my POV whichever way I try to explain it, and take my constructive criticism as bashing, when all I generally do is impart my view, (maybe too )bluntly.
Of course, once you get attached to a star you do tend to 'overlook' some minor issues..But I see people just loving or disliking blindly some stars because they are competition. Or not believe their fave also has huge issues..just that they are VERY good at hiding them(paying press, having good PR delete or bury everything negative and so on).
I feel some peiople become attached to the 'aura' of a star.. or the 'recognition' they have received.. without looking into the WHYs and HOWs of that recognition and understanding the mechanics of how such a average actor/actress becaonmes a 'star'.
I'd say I like actors that go beyond the norms and try break monotony. And I like vivacious personalities. And probably I tend to like more those actors due to the fact that their quirkiness appeals to my own style.
