In Childhood , I was a huge fan of Hrithik Roshan . I used to have his three posters in my house. I made an album of his photos. But gradually I started disliking his films, Now I just can't stand his acting at all . It seems fake and weird . But Only two films which stayed in testing times were Lakshya and Guzaarish .

This has nothing to do with Kangana . I am genuinely saying that .

Similarly I used to hate SRK, Me and My Badi di used to fight who is better I was in Hrithik's team always. Now I really like SRK in those old films, He has certain charms , which is missing in Hrithik I feel

Yes.I am not very critical of films.I watch films to have a good time.Any film that I can sit through ,without getting restless, has a long run at the box office without fail.

I have almost never liked my favorites film on first viewing.I am never satisfied. It is only when I watch the second time,I watch it like other films.

I didn't like any of the SLB films,YJHD,OSO,..I expected more from Piku too.I liked KCK,Break ke baad,Cocktail,CE very much on first viewing..LAK too(I think the changed ending killed the film)

Great thread idea, tina.😊

I go by instinct. There has to be a connect , for me, to like someone so much that I become a 'fan'.
Although, that being said, I will voice my opinions if I feel they are doing something that's not right (even if other fans won't like me for it) or I defend them if I feel they are unnecessarily bashed in here.
In general with Western movies and fanbases I feel they are very used to people criticising their faves when they don't act that great or they do stupid stuff that they try hide from GP.They seem to understand that not everyone will like their fave and even join in criticism if it has merit (well some fans, not the stans).
BW and IF is a strange world in this sense. Stars seem to be put on sa pedestal, adored without question, most times-IMO. There are a few stans that will not understand my POV whichever way I try to explain it, and take my constructive criticism as bashing, when all I generally do is impart my view, (maybe too )bluntly.
Of course, once you get attached to a star you do tend to 'overlook' some minor issues..But I see people just loving or disliking blindly some stars because they are competition. Or not believe their fave also has huge issues..just that they are VERY good at hiding them(paying press, having good PR delete or bury everything negative and so on).
I feel some peiople become attached to the 'aura' of a star.. or the 'recognition' they have received.. without looking into the WHYs and HOWs of that recognition and understanding the mechanics of how such a average actor/actress becaonmes a 'star'.

I'd say I like actors that go beyond the norms and try break monotony. And I like vivacious personalities. And probably I tend to like more those actors due to the fact that their quirkiness appeals to my own style.

Generally, I don't analyze a movie, I just watch it to enjoy. If I enjoyed it very much, I will even go for multiple watches.

Analyzing, giving reason for like/didn't like is only when I want to enter into a discussion (for whatever reasons). But for doing that, I have to have watched the movie at least a second time (better even a third time).

I avoid praising or criticising a movie without giving reasons for my likes/dislikes. In this way, I'm confident about my own perception.

A good actor is someone who makes me believe in his character. There has to be something natural in his play so that I can feel the feelings conveyed. I have difficulties with actors who "try too hard". So, again, if I myself have the opinion that someone is a good actor, I'm confident about this feeling (and can even give examples to sustain my opinion).

I second what others wrote that life experiences and growing age can change perceptions. But I have to say, that I still love those movies I have loved many years ago. It is clear that a movie watched as a kid or teenager which normally needs the understanding of an adult person may be perceived in another way when watched 20 years later...the magic may vanish.

As for the "professional" film critics...well, I got the feeling that the majority isn't professional at all.

Of course, I have a 100% confidence in my opinions. I know myself. I know what I like and don't like. Why should I doubt myself?
I am not a professional critic. I didn't go to school to learn how to critique movies. I don't get paid to give objective criticism. I am just a person who enjoys movies and expresses what I think about them.

So what if my taste is different from other people or critics. So what if I like something that was trashed by everyone else. So what if I hate something that everyone else loved. They have their opinions, I have mine.

As people change and evolve through life, opinions do too. Sometimes I look back and see that my perception of movies and performances of the past have changed. Sometimes I see other people make a contrary point and get where they are coming from. But that is not doubt about my first impression/opinion, its human nature to absorb and evolve based on what we are surrounded with.

No one should ever doubt their opinion about movies and acting. You do you. You love/hate whatever you want. Don't let anyone stop you from loving/hating things just the way you want to.
