As a viewer, are you always confident of your opinions?

This is something I have been wondering for some days now.

As a viewer are you always confident of your opinion on an actor's acting skills or chemistry between two actors/characters?Do you always and completely trust your ability to judge these things? Because all these things are so subjective, opinions always clash (who is better between kareena n priyanka?who is better between alia n dp?who is better between RS n RK? etc),we always come across people whose opinions are different and even almost opposite to ours.Yet I don't see anyone wondering if the other person is indeed correct and if their idea of what constitutes good acting has been wrong all this time.

So,do any of you doubt your 'acting judging' or 'chemistry judging' abilities sometime?Do you want to go back and see your favourite's performances and evaluate it again after coming across opinions that deemed the particular performance/actor not so good?Or are RS fans always completely secure of his superiority as an actor(ranveer singh is just an example here,my question is same to RK fans, alia fans,DP fans, srk fans etc etc)?

Everybody on IF,on twitter,on youtube seems so confident while expressing their opinions or while indulging in arguments.Does anybody wonder that what if their parameters to gauge good acting are pretty incorrect?like how do we know?

What about when your opinions clash with a professional movie critic?like you thought a particular actor nailed a role but critics thought the acting was abysmal?Do you wonder if,that person as a professional movie critic, may indeed know more about good acting than you do?

I always place my judgement on an actors acting movie to movie and am firm on my judgement based on that.
However I do realize that my opinion and likes changes as time passes. Maybe 2 years down the line, I would consider the same actors acting in a movie I praised, horrible and had me wondering how I liked this in the first place. I guess its natural.

There was a time when I loved DDLJ and loved Srk's acting but now I cannot stand 10 minutes of DDLJ. I was like how the he*l did I like this movie and their acting.

So acting for me is movie on movie, never base my judgement on the forum discussion here. NEVER

no. sometimes as a viewer I can not tell if an actor is good or bad. usually i have to analyze and think about the actors performance after the film. I also usually think if there is an irreplacable factor to the actor..when no one else could have done the role except that person. when there is, you know an actor has nailed it. also what reviewers and critics say, and if there is certain hype for one actor...you tend to believe even though it may not be accurate.

I judge actors based off of my sole opinion. If I like what I see and if there's some sort of resonance via the actor's performance, I will like them. If they continuously impress me, I will love them. With that said, I can still love a performance regardless of who the actor is..if it's good in my eyes, I will call it good/great and whatnot.
I do think some actors and/or performances are unanimously praised for a reason over others ..and this is when it comes to strictly acting abilities (not stardom etc). I personally use my own judgement and believe it holds true in my eyes until the actor proves me wrong or disappoints me...regardless of what others may think. Of course, favorites become favorites for a reason. I think that's a personal choice based off of what connects with you as a viewer. And if that makes you believe your favorite is the best then that's fine..at least have reasons to support why and why not.

This is a nice thread! ... I sometimes wonder the same esp when you notice many posts here that are filled with opinions which don't really align with "reality" ... Favourites pay a huge role when many express their opinions here! ...

Personally for me, I can usually tell when an actor has done a decent enough job ... bad actor is easy to pick out! .. But sometimes it's hard to judge acting on it's own since it gets overlapped by many external factors ... reason why different people judge it differently! ... Same is the case with many other opinions out here!
I don't mind adjusting my lens time to time after having read others point of views here if they seem logical and sensible .. as long as they aren't covered by "blind love or hate", I can use them to align my perspective! ...

Good topic for a change ... TFS!😊

Opinions change as time passes, for sure. But that's because one grows as a person and his/her views and/or ideologies and/or point of view changes based on what happens in his/her life. One shouldn't change their opinions (movies or otherwise) based on others' opinions/outlook because that's YOUR personal point of view based on your life and experiences. So sure, I do go back and watch certain older movies and question my kid/teen self as to what exactly did I like in it back then. But I won't watch a movie, like it, but then choose to dislike 5 days later it simply because SM has trashed it or my friends have said it sucks. One must have that confidence and/or faith in their own mindset/opinions, be it for films or otherwise.

Yes, I have become pretty confident about what I like and dislike, with time. Although I am ok with other people not having the same opinion, it doesn't change mine and neither do I try to change anyone else's.
One thing that I see here a lot is that people are so blinded by whoever they worship that they will praise anything. I am not that starry-eyed. I have my favorites and a soft corner for many (reasons including their off-screen actions as well) but I can still call a spade a spade, whether or not an actor is my favorite.

Cent percent. I dont have rose tinted glasses for any celebrity. I have my favorites but I hold them to a high moral standard which if failed in anyway I dump them just as easily. This includes both professional and private lives.
