'Chicago Typewriter' Discussion Thread!

My rating for CT : 8/10

What I liked:

1. The theme. Its very fresh and unique.. a story following the lives of 3 individuals in 1930's pre-independence Korea through the present time .. and they way they are linked with each other.. is so damn good.

2. The character of our dear ghost.. he was the best character in the show IMO.

3. The story of the past life. The story of them in 1930s was written beautifully... the bonding between the 3 of them in that time is gold.. together, they are precious ❤️

4. Side characters like the FL's friend at whose house she stayed and her mother (the one who deal with spirits)..I liked them! I also liked the bit of story shown between that friend and Mr. Ghost.. it was cute 😆

5. The cinematography and direction.. A++++ level!

6. The OSTs... hands down among the best OSTs ever.. esp Satellite ❤️

7. Oh ..and last but not the least.. I really liked the story of how Jeon Seol became the first fan of Se Ju.. I thought that was pretty nice.

Things I didn't like / had a slight problem with / would want to change :

:

1. The present day love story between Han Se Ju and Jeon Seol. It wasn't developed properly.. couldn't warm up to them and never felt Se Ju truly loved her.. infact, I shipped Mr. Ghost with her.. he was the one who loved her with his whole heart <3

2. Se Ju's background story.. his adopted father, mother, brother and his dynamics with them.. I never felt interested in that. All three of them were pretty unlikeable characters too

3. The last 2-3 episodes.. dunno why.. but I felt something was amiss..

4. The confusing ending

5. Very less time given for 1930s storyline

Final verdict - Pretty good drama with some parts having great repeat value. I wouldn't want to watch the whole show again but I would definitely watch some parts of it on repeat . <3 Advice for anyone hesitating to watch it? I say.. go for it! Don't miss it! Its definitely worth your time!

this drama gave him some really beautiful yet painful memories.

i am still speechless when it comes to sharing my reviews on CT.

Particularly the 1930 story and it's characters.. I am at loss of words.. Even though they lived happily in this life, their beautiful characters made me long for them to have a happy ending in that era.. But then that was their story, their painful fate.. It was so heart wrenching to see them die all alone, particularly when Soo Hyun died at a deserted place, while talking to Hi Young, saying she is tired and she wants to sleep.. 😭 I don't know she was hallucinating during her last moments or she was actually seeing his ghost but while living he never gets to say those words to her .. that he was sorry for being mean to her and that he loved her .. He asks her to live to live to see the independence of the nation but she was too tired to continue...😭

And Yoo Jin Oh is the cutest ghost I have ever seen ..😳 He had an awesome chemistry with both his comrades / friends ... Shin Yul was a lovely character too but I liked his ghost character more.. He was funny, mischievous, empathetic and has his own shares of issues to deal with.. I also loved how Yoo Jin Oh and Han se ju friendship developed.. They were so good together who were later joined by Jung Seol... I also found that scene really sweet where he takes Bang Min for a date to console her even when he was not romantically involved with her..

But I couldn't understand the ending really.. I get that Han Se Ju and Jung Seol lived happily in this life but what did really happen to Yoo Jin Oh.. whether he lived in the novel or in the typewriter or returned back to his era .. I wished for a closure for him too just like Han Se Ju and Jung Seol got.. I think it would have been better to get him reincarnated too .. but anyway whatever it is, Chicago Typewriter is one of the most beautiful stories I have seen recently... Will remain with me for a long time...😊

Special mention to the beautiful kissing scene that happened between Hi Young and Soo Hyun in the middle of firing ...It was like all the pent up emotions of their entire life, they poured into that one kiss..😛

Haha the second one tho! 😆 Mr. Cute innocent ghost ! ❤️ imo.. the BEST second lead ever! ⭐️😭
