The shades of Karna

This episode detailed the layers of Karna's personality in vivid detail! We got to see a generous, conflicted and determined man all in the same episode. We're seeing Karna, the character, through Uruvi's eyes...She is the narrator of his story... Overall, an intense episode riddled with some over the top moments!
1. I keep saying this, Karna's characterization has been rather intriguing so far. We saw two specific moments of Karna tonight...almost contradictory. First, the man who offers his shoes to an injured servant. Second, the man who sticks to Duryodhan even as he proceeds to abduct Bhanumati.

2. I was worried that they're gonna intensify Karna's conflict re. his role in the abduction but I admire them for not overdoing it! He didn't ask a single question but supported his friend throughout...These are the grey shades that people speak of when they speak of Karna...

3. Yes, there were moments of sweeping angst when Uruvi tells him not to do this...but I liked how he instantly turned to leave when Duryodhan asked him to! He is a very determined man, he may be conflicted but he is very sure of himself and his decisions. I especially liked his reaction after Uruvi said, "I should've never sent Arjun away"... It reminded me of Darcy going all, "Wickham? Oh his misfortunes have been great indeed." 😆 Yes, I am gonna drag out this analogy! 😆

4. The moments in the wedding hall between Karna/Uruvi were charming as usual.. It's interesting how Uruvi is starting to see the shades of this man she is crushing on. Before this, the idea of Karna has been an untouchable, perfect fantasy for her...but she is beginning to see the man for who he. Complicated, conflicted and not all sunshine-rainbows! This, I feel, is the point of inflection between her schoolgirl crush and her future love.

PS, The scene in which Duryodhan abducts Bhanumati was way over the top, so was Bhanumati's irritating commentary on everyone.

PPS, Mittals, Uruvi is not a Kekta bahu! Stop making her do things that seem outrageous...and limit her interference in everything! I appreciated the angst factor because it delivered the scene where Karna moves away from Uruvi to reach Duryodhan...setting up their future conflict...but Uruvi is not a daily soap bahu, please!

Indeed Karn had some grey shades.. We get to see that when a man who sometime ago said that woman has right to choose her man.. helps out his friend who forcefully abducts a woman crushing her right to choose...this contradiction is what makes Karn a very interesting and intriguing character.. as you said when taking side..he was sure and decision maker ..
I agree dury lifting Bhanu scene was very OTT..I found it funny..that bhanumati makes no effort at all to escape...it's like when she is on Duryodhan shoulder she slept off...

Yes yes, I was thinking about exactly that dialogue when the abduction happened...he says, "a woman has the right to choose" but when his friend proceeds to abduct a girl..he helps him throughout. He makes his own decisions, chooses his own fate...this is a very simple nuance that most Mahabharat adaptations seem to not recognize! He isn't wholly good or bad...he has his bad moments, his moments of hypocrisy like these and also his good moments! I am enjoying this particular characterization.

Right, the abduction scene was hilarious! 😆

In real life we aren't black or white but grey
Grey characters or anti heroes have always seemed more intriguing coz they are not one dimensional but layered characters and that's what makes them so interesting and somewhat relatable too

I always wanted to see a grey character's love...lovr story of an anti hero where the girl falls for him despite knowing his flaws...where the girl could see his good besides his bad and fall for him...Indian TV doesn't have such stories.

I am loving Karnsangini coz here we will get the opportunity to see Karna's love story...love story of a grey , complex character who was an underdog and a tragic hero

Urvi will fall for him after knowing all his sides...his good as well as the bad side...she will love the man that he is...she will understand him and his situations...she will call him out on his wrong decisions while also stand by him against all odds.

Love story of a grey character is such a refreshing change!

Loving the show

😊

Today, it was obvious that although Karna did not oppose or stop Duryodhan from abducting Bhanumati, and then even protected him from all the arrows as he was leaving, he was somehow conscious of Urvi expecting him to do otherwise. Based on his expression when Duryodhan first grabbed Bhanumati, deep down I don't think he quite agrees with what his friend did but will stand by him anyway.

Karna read Urvi's pleading eyes but did not respond. In fact, when she seemed to say that she knew he was better than this, his mask slipped back on and he was just the warrior then, one who was confident of defeating her friend Arjun any day.

This made me wonder how he will react when the famous Draupadi cheerharan incident happens. No clue if they would both be in love by then or not, but there's no doubt Urvi will have some influence on him by then. It's not happening any time soon, so I'm sure there will be quite a few ups and downs between them.

He is finally aware of her, to say the least, and I expect he will end up falling for her no matter how hard he tries to remain focused on his personal mission.

In the book Karna's wife, Uruvi is outraged by what happens to Draupadi and leaves Karna for a while until he accepts that what happened was wrong. He even tells her that he was deeply unsettled because he kept wondering what would have happened if if was Uruvi in place of draupadi.

True man! It was quite a ride and Uruvi's intense crush is seeing the light of the day.
Dury and Bhanu😆 man i ship them. Only Dury liked Bhanumati's ridiculing behaviour of course until she pulled it on him too. Also what was her standard if she be rejecting everyone right and left.

Also precap be hilarious. Uruvi has decided to save Bhanu on her own. Really how can she be interfering in everything? Not that I mind but I can only see Karn thinking - this chicka got the hots for me and wanna be up everyone's noses😆

Beautiful post I am so happy that they are exploring Karna as a whole usually it is projected extremely negative or in a movie I watched extremely glorified because he was a big time actor.
Loved the peeling of the layers of who Karnan is and through the eyes of Uruvi. Have t read Kavita Kane's book but if this is closely based maybe I should give it a try.

It's a good book. But the show isn't following it closely in terms of plot. Though the character of Uruvi is quite close to her book version. In the book, Uruvi is already in love with Karna directly after Rangabhoomi. The Rangabhoomi incident is given in flashbacks. After that Uruvi's Swayamvara is directly introduced. The show is exploring the Uruvi-Arjuna, Karna-Uruvi and Duryodhana--Karna relationships in much detail.
