I love that Mauli is strong, I do love strong women and men for that matter, strength is an admirable quality. The concept of "Survival to the fittest" was embedded in my head in 10th standard and I always believed that strong people survive, they deal with problems, they can face anything and emerge victorious. But later I learned one more thing and it's that "Human are social animals" and for humans being strong is a curse sometimes*

Mauli is strong and Nandini is weak. Mauli never needed Kunal's help, she is a self sufficient woman who knows how to hide her vulnerabilities, she can't cry in front of people and Nandini needs help, her ability to cry at drop of the hat is her biggest tool.
An example of this is when Mauli got to know about KuNan relationship and Nandini thought she'll commit suicide, Kunal says that Mauli won't do it, she is a strong woman but when Nandini goes missing Kunal says - "Agar Nandini ko kuch ho gaya to uski jimmedar tum hogi"

Mauli can't cry, She can't show her pain, none is there to support her, she has this wall around her and she can't break it, none is even trying to get to the other side and understand what she is going through, everyone from Kunal's family to Kunal is expecting her to be the strong woman, they want her to be the most responsible person at her most vulnerable state, Kunal has placed responsibility of his whole family on Mauli and now he placed responsibility of Nandini's well being on Mauli. She is crying there but everyone is immune to her pain because it's Mauli, a girl who smiles in her sleep, a woman who knows what's best for her, a woman so responsible that mistakes are not part of her life.

I just feel for Mauli because I connect with her. I connect with the mask of strength she has to put up and yet yearn for someone to see behind that mask and find the real her who is just losing herself and is getting tired of that constant fight to remain strong.
Her strength has become a curse for her in every possible way. She can't even tell anyone about how she feels without being advised about what to do. She wants to be listened and heard and understood but not advised constantly.

I totally understand...
Infact I know people who can cry on anything. The problem is you cant even fight with them or say anything to them.If you will say anything you come out to be mean. Its this sympathy card that is used.Even if they are wrong people sympathise with them. Its actually irritating

I totally love Mauli because she is the perfect blend of strong modern woman with the traditional values. She is a person who will fall down but never break and even if she does, she has the capability to stand back on her own two feet. She is the one who will question the traditional beliefs and will follow them only if they make sense. She will go to any lengths to protect the people near her but will not even make a sound if she is being tortured inside. Everyone is so used to seeing her so strong, that they forget that inside she is just a woman who also has emotions. Everything with her is 100% and there are no hidden agendas. What you see is what you get but not her emotions. She is so used to forcing them down that now she does not even know how and who to show them because the ones who could see them or she could show are the ones responsible for them. Yes, it is indeed the curse of being a strong woman.

Agree with each and every one of you!
Mauli is a very relatable character and I hate how they're constantly taking advantage of her. If any other woman found out that her husband was cheating on her with her best friend, she would get physically and verbally abusive with both parties. That particular scene when Mauli found out and how she confronted Kunal was a true reflection of her strength, dignity, and overall character. Sure she was loud, angry, and hurt, but she did not bawl her eyes out without forming coherent sentences. She spoke to Kunal very logically and asked all the right questions.

I hope after all this filler crap, she gets an episode all to herself where she explodes on Kunal, Mamma, and Dida. I hope she puts them all in their places and tells them to quit expecting her to save her marriage - they should instead try saving her marriage on their own if they think it's that easy to win a lost battle.

UGH!

Lovely post. Actually strong women are taken for granted. That's why people come up with explanation saying nandhini thought mauli would survive the heartbreak. Sigh

Bravo 👏👏 this is one of the most thoughtful insightful posts here. It made me reflect. People are not made strong. Circumstances make them strong. You dont know what your strenght is until you have no choice. I am the fourth of four girls, raised by a single mom. Imagine. All i know is string women. We dont cry in public. We dont have the luxury of falling apart. No one will save us.
Your post is just so marvelous my friend. But even the strongest need support. Wish people would understand this
