PC's father in Law Filed for Bankruptcy

A Real Estate company of Paul Jonas, father of American singer Nick Jonas and future father-in-law of actress Priyanka Chopra, has over $1 million in debt, including a $268k judgement from a case his company lost. According to TMZ, it is said that in order to come up with the cash, Paul's plans to see of come of the New Jersey construction and real estate company's property. In the past, the Jonas Brothers of which Nick is a part, had sold millions of records worldwide before the band broke up in 2013, and the trio has continued building their portfolios on their own. Nick is reportedly worth $25 million. He's made most of his money as a solo artist, but he's also got a budding acting career and recently starred in the "Jumanji remake.

Nick Jonas' dad was recently in India for the roka of Priyanka and Nick. He wrote about how much he enjoyed Indian culture. He also shared a pic of how he read about the engagement news in Indian papers. Paul Kevin Jonas plans to liquidate some assets to pay off the debt. However, there is no immediate cash crunch in the family. Would-be daughter-in-law Priyanka Chopra is worth approximately $28 million and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner is worth $18 million.

These things happen in business more often than we think. He probably wants to take care of it on his own without having any of his kids touch their money. Also I'm pretty sure he's consulted his lawyer and Tax guy and is doing what's the most beneficial to him still.

I doubt this has anything to do with Nick and PC's engagement a few weeks ago. His sons are doing pretty well for themselves so it's not like they are desperate for PC's money.

He's had cancer for many years and just recently recovered so it's not surprising his business took a hit. His kids could easy help him but he probably doesn't want them too because it's better off to file for bankruptcy and avoid taxes. Anyways I'm sure he's consulted this with his lawyers.

This is very common in US. People file for bankruptcy when their business is in trouble so that they can restructure their business. There are tax benefits etc that they can avail and some other provisions. That is why US is said to promote enterprenual culture because there is a second chance after failure.
