Operation Sindoor movie in the works? Vivek Agnihotri & Bhushan Kumar team up - REPORT

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is reportedly gearing up for his next big project, and this time, it’s rooted in a recent and powerful chapter of India’s history. Titled Operation Sindoor, the film is said to be inspired by the codename of India’s targeted military strikes carried out in May 2025. The project will be backed by Bhushan Kumar under the banners of T-Series and I Am Buddha Production. While an official announcement is still awaited, sources close to the development have confirmed that the film is in the works and will be directed by Agnihotri himself.

A Film Inspired by Operation Sindoor

The reported storyline draws from the events that unfolded after a tragic massacre of civilians, many of them tourists, in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Following the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. The strikes were aimed at terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

According to reports from that time, the operation led to the elimination of over 50 terrorists, with several others injured. Key terror hubs in Kotli, Ahmadpur Sharqia, Muzaffarabad, Muridke, and Faisalabad were among the targeted locations. The Indian Army had described the mission as precise and measured, clarifying that no Pakistani military facilities were attacked in order to prevent escalation.

The film is expected to explore the political and emotional aftermath of these events, though details about the narrative angle are being kept tightly guarded.

What to Expect

This new project comes after Agnihotri wrapped up his much-discussed ‘Files’ trilogy. The series began with The Tashkent Files, gained massive public attention with The Kashmir Files, and concluded with The Bengal Files. His films have often sparked national debate and strong audience reactions.

With Operation Sindoor, expectations are naturally high. Given Agnihotri’s past storytelling style, viewers can anticipate a dramatic, research-driven narrative that aims to present what the filmmaker calls untold or lesser-discussed truths.

Although casting and release timelines remain under wraps, the collaboration between Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar has already created curiosity in the industry. If reports hold true, Operation Sindoor could become one of the most talked-about political dramas in the coming year.
