Veteran writer and producer Salim Khan was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday morning after his health took a sudden turn. As concern grew among fans and the film fraternity, a senior doctor from the hospital has now shared a reassuring update on his condition.
Doctor Shares Reassuring Update
Dr Jalil Parkar from Lilavati Hospital addressed the media and clarified that the 90-year-old filmmaker is stable. Speaking about his admission, he said, “Yesterday morning, he was admitted after being brought in by family doctor Sandeep Chopra. After administering some medication, we realised he needed ICU care. His blood pressure was high, so we treated him accordingly and placed him on a ventilator as a precaution to prevent deterioration. He was not in a critical condition.”
He further explained that the ventilator support was purely preventive. “He was having jerks, and his blood pressure was high. We treated him. We had to put him on a ventilator so that he would not worsen. It wasn’t because he was critical. We did the investigations that were required. Today, we have done a small procedure on him. I will not go into its details. He is fine. He is stable,” the doctor added.
Dr Parkar also mentioned that age is naturally a factor in recovery. However, he sounded hopeful, stating that Salim Khan is doing well and is expected to be taken off the ventilator soon.

Family By His Side
Soon after news of his hospitalisation broke, members of the Khan family were seen arriving at the hospital. Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Aayush Sharma visited him to check on his health. Their presence brought comfort amid growing concern.
Several close friends from the industry also dropped by to offer support. Sanjay Dutt and Javed Akhtar were among those who visited the hospital to enquire about the veteran writer’s condition.
A Legacy That Shaped Hindi Cinema
Salim Khan became one-half of the iconic screenwriting duo Salim-Javed alongside Javed Akhtar. Together, they changed the face of Hindi cinema in the 1970s with powerful stories and unforgettable characters. Their films helped shape the “angry young man” image of Amitabh Bachchan and left a lasting impact on Bollywood.
As the industry and fans continue to send prayers, the latest medical update brings much-needed relief. For now, the focus remains on his recovery, with doctors closely monitoring his health.
