However, Rajkumar Hirani felt his story deserved to be heard and rest, as they say, is history. Apart from drugs and his time in jail, the most crucial chapter that received maximum attention from the viewers in the Sanju trailer was the fact that he had 308 girlfriends. In his recent interview with India Today magazine, Rajkumar Hirani reveals how Dutt would con his many girlfriends by taking them to his mother's fake grave. "He would start dating a girl and take her to this graveyard. He would say, I have brought you here to meet my mother.' After this unusual meeting, the girl would feel emotionally attached to Sanju. The reality was that the grave was not his mother's, said Hirani.
While he was fine with dumping them, he hated it when girls would dump him. Hirani recalled an incident when Sanjay went crazy after a girl dumped him. Narrating the incident he said, "A girl broke up with him. So, Sanjay took his friend's new car and smashed it into another car parked outside his ex-girlfriend's house. Later on, Sanju found out that the car he rammed into belonged to his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. Both cars were severely damaged.
Sanjay's addiction to drugs was so serious that the actor was eventually scared of his death. He once revealed a horrific incident on Simi Garewal's talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. The incident when he had an overdose of drugs and slept for two long days. His family was worried when the actor didn't wake up. It was after this day that Sanjay went to his father, Sunil Dutt, and requested him to help him fight this battle of addiction.
