Because she liked him for a long time. But that's not the question here. The question is friendship vs love. Not all friends are equally valuable. Why not go for the man you want, if you get the chance? Why can't Alia choose love over a random 'friend'? Now Ranbir is a bad husband, but he's the one she wanted.
