Sonam Kapoor has once again found herself in the midst of a Twitter frenzy after the actress was spotted wearing her mangalsutra, an auspicious necklace that a groom ties around the bride's neck in an Indian wedding ceremony, as a bracelet during the promotions of her upcoming film Veere Di Wedding.While most of the fashion police praised Sonam for setting the new trend, many Twitter users slammed the actress for "disrespecting" the Indian culture and the sacred institution of marriage.
"Mangalsutra is not compulsion but it is love by wife for her husband. And it should always be nearby heart for which it is weared in neck. This bollywood is declining our culture day by day as they grow up in foreign. So they are mixture of indian+foreign," a Twitter user wrote.
One user posted, "So mangal sutra can be wore as bracelet... you don't follow religion don't. Why all this drama?" while another said, "This is the problem of so called feminests... Not following tradition is absolutely fine but tweaking it to your convenience is WRONG."

Earlier, the actress was brutally slammed for changing her last name to Ahuja shortly after her wedding. Sonam tied the knot with Anand, a Delhi-based businessman, in a private ceremony on May 8 in Mumbai.
