Like too much of anything might kill. In earlier days Ekta actually used to make good shows but nowadays the viewers can hardly connect
Like you said who goes to sleep with full make up on😆 I know time has changed but that doesn't mean the quality should be decreased. Nowadays we are Soo much into tarka masala that even the news channels use special effects and dramatic background sounds while delivering a news so that they can get more trps😆

Call me Sewwi 😆 With time people should progress right? But what's happening to Indian dramas is that it's getting over dramatic, unbearable & sometimes cheesy too. Standards? What are standards?? Trp suckers everywhere it's so sick 🤣

I think it truly is sad that desi tv has gone so regressive when other television industries around the world are pushing the boundaries. In US we have shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, HIMYM, House of Cards, The Office , Stranger Things and countless others that offer such great content and it truly is TV for everyone and also the rise of Netflix and Hulu have made network TV (like ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) to buck up and create innovative new scripts and all. Whereas desi tv is still stuck in saas bahu mode now added with mytho/historical and naagin/makkhi stuff added into it
I think that there is a lot of factors to blame, Kekta, TRPs, channels/production houses and audiences are all to blame for this crappy content we have on tv. Even the more mediocre stuff nowadays seems so good since the rest of the channels are filled with crap. Let's talk BP for example, I don't find BP *that* innovative and different, it's solely due to HarshJen and their performances/chemistry that the show has me hooked, warna it's all same old same old hate turned love story (I hope CVs give us something different though) but compared to the rest of the crap on Colors and Zee, BP seems so sane and great in comparison.

Kekta struck a goldmine when she brought forth her silly saas bahu sagas with Tulsi,Prerna and Parvati because it was something new at the time when 90s had progressive shows and stories, she brought this nonsense and somehow it stuck and other channels/production houses started to copy and now even made it worse than she started off with. In one way it is remarkable of how desi tv is fully female-driven, women are at the center of the screens, women characters dominate the screens, the stories are all about women but yet the writers and audiences are stuck with the meek bahu, damsel in distress, the adarsh beti type stuff and we don't get to see truly strong women characters in desi tv

TV has some really talented actors and actresses that deserve better characters and stories. It's not like some production houses havent tried, YRF made 6-7 AWESOME shows that were totally rejected by the audiences😡, Star Plus tried with Everest and POW, Colors had 24 etc so the channels and production houses are trying but it's also the TRP audiences and aunties that arent giving these shows any chances which make the channels see that these shows aren't worth it that's why they're investing into web-series.

I wish desi tv would adopt the K Drama/Paki drama concept of having just 20-30 episodes and telling their stories in a swift manner rather than these dragfests. There are so many good stories to tell.

Western shows have adopted to their own culture & are definitely innovative when it comes to creativity. One hardly regrets after starting a series. At least they do not go for 6, 7 years as a drama & takes seasonal breaks 🤣 Indian TV, like you've said doesn't seem to let go of the monotonous Saas Bahu BS, same old mythological story with different themes & really weird, unnatural & unbelievable stuff 😕

Kekta 😆 is obviously responsible. I agree with you saying BP isn't that innovative but weren't the promos quite different & out of the box? The leads were definitely eye grabbing from day one but the story hasn't yet been repeated on screen & I think that's what makes it stand out of the crowd 😆

Definitely nonsense 😃 Now that every channel accepts such crap, we have to avoid them & get on with our better lives. My issue is that they've the habit of making the lead heroine the righteous lady, one who bears every problem, the sacrificial lamb & make other characters look lesser. She doesn't make mistakes, she's the one who puts sense in to others heads & finally change the villainous/businessman/tough pati to a tiny kitty who purrs around her 😲😲
I've followed such dramas & I feel bad remembering them 🤣 Are women always correct? Can't they do any mistakes? So bl***y illogical & impractical 😡 This is definitely not known as being a strong woman, sigh...

Actors & actresses are also responsible for people watching these shows. Whether it turns out to be BS at the end, people watch the shows for their favs & to see them act. The wiser thing is to choose your show wisely. Everest was unique ikr. But people tend to follow the Saas Bahu stuff & ignore these different dramas Sony tv is quite ok comparatively bcz it has a set of unusual stories.

^Kekta is truly some kind of weirdo she brings all of her crappy concepts to TV and takes all of her good concepts to her webseries. Although Naagin season 1 however ridiculous it was actually was quite entertaining and had a good story for the first 50ish episodes. Kekta has a knack for showing some really good love stories and family dramas which are her forte and she should expand on those rather than always separating the leads and having long leaps and all that nonsense.

I blame the audiences and TRPs system as well since some channels (like Sony) does try and bring new stories and somewhat different concepts to tv but unfortunately, Sony is the lowest rated channel amongst all of them which sucks😔 and looking at the crap that is ruling the TRP charts it just shows of how flawed that system really is, I find it so hard to believe that Bhagya and Yeh Rishta crap does this well despite it being on for years and years and there is literally no progress in anything.
