Lack of Versatility in Indian Television

Nowadays I actually don't watch TV that much...I usually visit the forum and read about different shows. I usually stick to English shows more and once in a blue moon if I like the promo of any show I decide to give it a try. Such a show is Bepannaah...from it's very first teaser when it was called "Adhura Alvida" I decided to give this she a try and my God I was not disappointed for a single bit and other than this the only show I watch is Yeh un dino ki baat hai.
The reason I started this topic is do you often think that how the Indian television has changed so badly? Remember the days when there were sooo many different types of shows with very different stories? Be it the shows for the children like Shaka laka boom boom, shararaat, khichdi or the detective shows or even the dramas were pretty good those days. My mom used to watch this show called "Hum pardesi ho Gaye" that story was so good and had such a beautiful message and there were other shows as well like amanat, Ghar ek mandir, ek mehal ho sapno ka, bano main Teri dulhan and many more. Like each story was different from the other and had a very strong message. But nowadays we only see an angry guy and a "hum kisi ki parva nahi karte"/ carefree/bechari girl and saas-bahu drama or worst chudail/naagin/maakhi type thingsšŸ¤” even ekta used to make good shows before but now alll her shows are more or less the same. Same story everywhere, moreover the stories are so violent and regressive that anyone watching it would become Ramsey Bolton

I really don't know why this happened but I feel even the actors are annoyed with this, I remember Harshad saying in an interview that nowadays it's hard to find a good script and I am pretty sure even the audience is unhappy. So why can't the producers come up with some versatility?? Why all the shows are absolutely samešŸ¤” is it because the only people left to watch TV are the aunties that's why they make saas bahu shows only?? Or no one cares for versatility anymore and is happy with the Bull#### craps they are being served??
Sorry to say this but the quality of Indian Television has degraded to a very low level in the past few years.

the quality of shows has really fallen.. n even my mom now never watches any indian shws.. she too got fedup of the long dragging logicless dramas n nw is only watching paki dramas coz they atleast makes sense to her even though she is not much educated, she gave up on indian shws.. so many aunties like my mom must b there who dont like todays indian shws n prefer finite logical shws.. so we cant blame all aunties out there.. n same about me.. i havent watched or liked any indian shw since almost 4yrs.. last shw i religiously followed n liked ws Beintehaa.. after that i tried so many shws like pmhmd, nk, IB for a short while bt i stopped watching them very soon coz i got boredšŸ˜† this show attracted me mainly becos of jenny n harshad, coz i personally never like second chance romance stories so i ws not intrigued with even the promos.. but wen i gave this shw a try coz in an iv jenny said this is an intense love story which is not seen nowadays much, that got me intrigued coz i m a sucker for intense romance stories.. bt abhi tak the shw has not impressed me 100%.. bt its better than the rest of the other shows For Me.. coz i cant watch other trp buster shws however popular they maybe coz they jst dont intrigue me much.. if this show goes in expected direction, good, warna i have again to do guzara on re watching old fav shws šŸ˜† or just my old hobby of reading romantic novels..

I think the TRP system is to be blamed for the state of Indian shows nowadays. If TRP is not satisfactory for a show makers are forced to change the track to the usual ghissa pitta crap there were quite a few shows whose story looked promising at the start but down the line they resorted to the same formula e.g saas bahu drama, multiple shaadi, kidnapping drama and other nonsense. Unless the industry decides to abolish this stupid TRP and find a better way to calculate ratings for a show taking into account overseas viewers most Indian serials will continue to be a crapfest.

Also indian tv producers never set a fixed number of episodes this leads to the story getting dragged and eventually loosing all charm this is why shows like SSK and Saathiya were on air for 5/6 years šŸ˜†

plus I think producers and even channels these days are just coming up with bogus shows for the sake of money nobody really cares for creativity anymore

Exactly see the trp chart. Out of rising star there was not a single creative show. Rising star has no good contestants but still the concept is new

90s shows were really good. I was a kid then but I remember some shows like Tara, Ananat, Banegi apni baat, etc. There were some shows that were way ahead of their times like Alpaviram which was about a woman who goes into coma after an accident and then is raped in that state by her doctor and when she comes out of it, she realizes she's pregnant. The whole show is about how she finds out the culprit and punishes him.
There were comedy shows like Hum Paanch, Shrimaan Shrimati, Family No. 1, Tu tu main main which were hilarious. Today we hardly have any comedy show. A show like Taarak Mehta... which claims to be a comedy show but there's nothing funny in it yet it's ruling the trp charts.

Indian Television began deteriorating from 2000s after Ekta took over. She promised to the viewers that her shows are all about Indian values, culture, sanskaar, etc. but she started showing all regressive shit and then others also started copying her and today's shows are all regressive. Yet these shows do well because of the leads chemistry and strong female leads.

I was so fedup of daily soaps that I had stopped watching them for like 5 years. This show's promos and Harshad-Jennifer chemistry attracted me but I am not sure for how long this show will keep me hooked to it.

Agreed. The content on TV has gotten very regressive and monotonous if you compare it to the show's of 90s and early 21st century! But I think the creative writers have taken the liberty to express their originality and good content on the web. The web series are really a revolution in this day and age of melodrama! Dont'cha think?

Also, the quality of actors has degraded cuz they get new actors for every show who hit the spotlight and then are lost in oblivion. Quality actors back in the day were staple and did shows of shorter duration. Also the hype about popularity and TRPs has taken over content.

They do more than that, they even solve murder mysteries in their own way. šŸ˜† I don't know now but Tulsi solved a murder case and Parvati had solved a rape case. šŸ˜†

See this is exactly what I was saying even the viewers are not liking such shows...arei even my mom is the same. She was a hindi serial addict and now she doesn't even watch a single show.
