His first plan of action was to decipher if Avni had feelings for him or not. He didn't want to coerce her into having feelings for him, if he confessed. He didn't want her to feel obliged into keeping the marriage. He wanted her feelings for him to be genuine, like his were for hers. He wished her day lit up when she saw him, like his did when he sees her. He wished she felt the butterflies he felt when she came out of the bathroom every morning, her wet tresses highlighting her radiant face even more. If that was possible. He wished she felt the same serenity he did when the last image he saw before sleeping was her laying down next to him. She still infuriated him sometimes, enough to make him certifiably crazy one day, but he would gladly deal with that if she was by his side every single day

Pata nahi yeh ehsas kabse huya. Pata nahi main kaise itni yaldi doob gaya, uske pyar mein. Lekin jab se hain, tab se yeh duniya rangeen lagne lagi hai. Yeh ehsas bohot khoobsurat hai. Neel couldn't sleep. Avni's non-recognition of her feelings, whether platonic or not, was making him restless. He only had 5 months and 21 days left to find out her feelings or woo her if needed be. That's not much time, the past week went by within a blink of an eye.

In amidst Neel trying to come up with a plan of action, Avni shifted in her sleep, and by sheer luck, or maybe destiny, her hand landed on his. Her soft touch stripping away his restlessness and lulled him to sleep.

When Avni woke up, she felt calm. It was a peaceful sleep. She smiled to herself, before realizing her limbs were entangled with his. She glanced up at Neel's face, silently hoping Neel wasn't awake. Not because the sensation of his touch felt odd or awkward, because it didn't; it felt right. But because she knew Neel would tease her. He was doing that a lot lately. Teasing her about anything and everything, until her cheeks usually turned bright red, blushing about whatever she had said or done impetuously. Then Neel would tease about her blushing. It was a cycle really.

Upon realizing Neel was fast asleep, Avni took the time to observe Neel's face. She could tell from the expression of his face, that he was having a good night's rest. He looked adorable...yet hot. It wasn't fair. He was too beautiful. Even his eyelashes were long and pretty. Her eyes fell on his lips. Lately she had began to feel like Neel's lips were the brightest colour of pink. They looked soft. She knew they were soft. She could still feel the lingering neck kiss Neel gave her on the day of the party. Soft, yet rough at the same time. It wasn't fair, Neel was good looking enough to make any girl fall for him. On top of that, he had a heart of gold. It made her want to be selfish. It made her want to stay with him. But she couldn't do that. Neel was too good of a person, that he would settle with someone as broken as her. No, she didn't want to be a burden on him.

Neel deserves the best. Aur main uske level mein hi nahi hoon. Avni squash whatever strange thoughts you are having. Neel was drunk that night. That kiss was probably a mistake. Tu uski zindagi barbaad nahi kar sakti.

Her stirring had woken him, but he remained still. He wanted to gauge her reaction. He was surprised she didn't untangle herself from him almost immediately. Instead he felt her eyes upon him. Probably checking if he was awake or not. Yet her eyes lingered on him. Neel wished he could read her mind right now. He wanted to open his eyes, and confront Avni. Yet she was still partly in his arms, and the warmth she gave him was too good to pass up. He soaked in her warmth as much as he could before she finally moved and went to the bathroom.

Hearing the door close, Neel propped himself against the bedframe, smiling. Today had been the best start to morning, and his romantic side told him that Avni might feel something back for him.Yet to make things clearer, he was going to bring his best friend in the picture.
