Chapter 3 - Unsorted Mess
Her eyes looked straight into his. Today she was going to find her answers. He will have to give her. She had noted that he was always very rude and cold to her. His words indirect and accusing. Today he will have to use his words to tell her what was it that she dint know!
"Bas karo! Yeh dikhawa yeh naatak. Enough!" He pulled back his hand.
"Kya chaiye paisa?Nahi. How can I be so stupid! Sirf anda nahi ande dene waali murgi bhi chahiye naa tumhe? Isliye yeh pura naatak. Hats off to you, I mean so much determination!"
Gauri blinked disgustedly. "Mr. Oberoi I don't understand. What's wrong with you? Hum toh aapko jaante bhi nahi hai. Yeh kya bakwaas kar rahe hain aap!"
Omkara laughed sarcastically. "Wow. So much in character. Enough. Tum kya ho, yeh main bahut acche se jannta hoon. "
Gauri looked on shocked.
"Aur aaj Sab Jaan jaayenge! Sab ke saamne iss bholepan ka parda uth jaayega. "
"Aap kya keh rahe humein kuch samaj nahi aa raha hai! Itni nafrat kyun karte hai aap humse yeh hum nahi samaj paa rahe hain. Lekin iska maltab yeh nahi ki him chup chaap Sab sunte rahenge. Samjhe Aap!" She raised her voice at the end
His eyebrow twitched up in anger. He grabbed the first thing his hand laid itself on and threw that on the carpeted floor. Suddenly the silence was broken by the sound of a recorded video, that automatically played on the huge television. Gauri turned in the direction of sound and was dumbfounded.Omkara had thrown the remote which had resulted in the video he was watching previously to be resumed.
The video showed Gauri dancing at Kali's house on a function. Gauri looked at it in disbelief. Om looked on disgusted. In the past one week he had collected all possible evidence he could to show his family what Gauri really was. In fact he was going to do it in front of all the guests the very same evening. Tell the world how she had broken the marriage of Kali Thakur and caused his wife Jaanvi Thakurain to commit suicide. Something maybe his mother would have also done if he hadn't intervened and engaged Shwetlana. As a matter of fact she had attempted.
"Kali Thakur!" Gauri trembled.
"Finally!"
Gauri turned to Omkara, "Aap humein kaise jaante hain?"
Om blinked. "Bas karo. Don't even try. Tumhara yeh drama mere pe nahi chalega. Tum jaisi bahut dehki hai tab galti ki thii, ab nahi karoonga."
Tears rolled down her eyes. "I have never been hated so much. Lekin ek baat aap kaan kholke sun lijiye, aap ka nazariya bahut Galata hai. Kya jaante hain aap humaare baare mein? Kuch nahi! "
"Really? You can still say that? Arrey, tumahari wajha se Jaanvi Thakuraain ne mere aakhon ke saamne apni jaan li. Disgusting. Ek shaadi-shuda aadmi se paison ke liye shaadi - tumne apne aapko becha hai!"
She glared at him and in the next second her hand was up to slap him for saying that. But he held it with his wounded hand. "Don't! " He felt a sharp sting on his hand. She twisted her wrist which hurt.
"Poora sach jaane bina, kisi ke baarein mein rai banana sahi nahi hai, Mr.Oberoi."
Omkara looked at her in disbelief, "aur sach!? Itna hi kaafi hai, iise zyada..
"Aakhein Aksar dhoka khaa jaati hai,
Isliye Aakhon dehke ko sahi nahi kehte!" She looked at him with bloodshot eyes.
"Aapne wahi dehka Jo aap dehkna chaate hain! Aap sach se bahut dhoor hain, bahut dhoor!"
Omkara narrowed his eyes at her, having nothing to say.
"Humein laga Shankar Ji ne humein ek naya mauka diya hai apni zindagi ki nayi shuruwaat karne ka! Humne aapse Milke galti kar di."
She started walking away wiping her tears, and then stopped to turn back.
"WO Kali Thakur ek Rakshas thaa,
Jis Thakuraain ki aap baat ka rahe hain, WO humaari Bhabhi Maa Saman thii,
Jis kal Ki aapne baat ki Hai Naa,
Usne humse bahut kuch cheena hai,
Aur nahi cheene denge!"
She walked out with her head held high. She din't care not anymore. She had rebuilt from scratch, her new life. This time she wouldn't let anyone take her for granted. Not a chance. She would not allow anyone to treat her as they wanted. Never.
She rode her scooty, her eyes teary. Her past din't seem to leave her. She din't know how Omkara knew her, but she knew he certainly did not know 'her'.
She sat on the rocks by the endless stretch of the sea. One place in Mumbai, that understood her better than anyone. This was one place she would visit whenever she needed her peace, or she felt happy or she was sad. The night sky and the whitish waves hitting the rock, worked magically for her at most times. But, today they didn't. Tears kept falling no matter how much she din't want to cry. She longed for a hug that she could cry her heart out in. She longed for her mother's love. She longed for love.
He couldn't get a peace of mind ever since she left. He was physically present in the function but he wasn't really there. He had told his family that Gauri had to leave suddenly due to personal reasons.
His mind was still fathoming the depth of her words. What was it, that he dint know? He was restless. He looked at his mobile. No messages, No calls. Why had she behaved so strangely? Was she right? He saw what his eyes saw and mind interpreted?
His thoughts seemed to suffocate him. He needed to get away. He excused himself after the main proceedings of the function and drove away. His mind replayed the entire Bareli visit.
The way she crushed his car under the bulldozer, the night he witnessed the Thakuraain take her life following the scene of Gauri in Kali Thakur's car. All that happened at Kali Thakur's haweli. She being chased by villagers and he finally marrying her in the heat of the moment. The train meeting where she banged into him from no where. The jungle sequence, and then where he left her at the Dargha!
Her words about marriage and she being his wife echoed in his ears.
"Aap yeh shaadi bhale naa nibhaye,
Hum nibhaenge!"
He hit the steering wheel. Ever since she had come she hadn't once mentioned the marriage. But acted rather strange like she din't even address the fact. He had been trying to forget all of it. But it wasn't easy, it certainly wasn't! He knew what marriage meant, but was far from accepting. But the truth couldn't be changed. His anger rose at his helplessness. He was in a mess! He dint know when he had increased the speed, he suddenly broke out of his thoughts and looked ahead. He was heading to hits two wheeler before him. He immediately hit the breaks but it was a little late. A loud sound was accompanied by a screeching sound. His head propelled forward to hit the steering. He blanked out.
He opened his eyes, his head hurt. He looked around. He held his head, it felt heavy. He was still in the car. The event registered in his head, panicked he quickly opened the door of his car. His eyes widened as he saw the fallen two wheeler vehicle before his eyes. He gulped, flashes of the previous accident came back to his head. He was sweating profusely. He looked around. It was a silent night, except the sound of swinging branches of trees around. There was not a soul around. He trembled a she moved forward to see the person who lay unconscious on the other side of the vehicle. He bent down and was beyond shocked, when he moved the scarf off the woman's face.
