FAMED FASHION DESIGNER GAURI KUMARI SHARMA : " I STARTED FROM NOTHING

read the TIMES OF INDIA paper on an early Monday morning.

Warda was sitting on a bench in the hospital as her eyes scanned through the newspaper. Her eyes came to a halt as soon as they fell on the headline. As soon as she saw her name, an ecstasy replaced the gloomy look on her face. She jumped from her seat to make arrangements for meeting her or at least talk to her. Though it was tough to meet her , Warda made a resolve to contact her as soon as possible .

Gauri was a successful fashion designer now. Her created designs even got a chance to be showcased in the Lakme Fashion Week 2018. There was no one in her family except her mother. After she left Omkara , she underwent counselling for around 3 months to recover from the trauma she'd faced after Kaali abducted her. After she was alright she decided to do something for herself. She'd started with a little shop in Calcutta where she'd shifted .She sold her creations there and in a span of 5 years , they reached the Fashion world. Though she was blessed with lots of wealth and fame , she was the same old Gauri whose values and love for Shankarji was above all.

Gauri and her mother were sitting and having conversations about her upcoming projects when her mother brought out the same old topic once again ; her marriage.

Even after numerous requests and explanations when Gauri decided not to go back to Omkara , her mother started pestering her for another marriage. Everyday she would bring up the topic of marriage and annoy Gauri. She would blackmail her saying that she would pass away some day and before that she wanted to see Gauri well settled in life and her children calling her "Nani.

Gauri must've moved on in her life but her love for Omkara was true. She wasn't amongst those who followed the notion "Out of sight , out of mind. Many good looking educated people also proposed her for marriage but she rejected all. Even though she made a resolve not to go back to him , she could never convince herself to love anyone else.

Currently she was on her Mumbai trip for two days .While she was arguing with her mother , her manager called her to inform that some girl named "Warda Sinha was too desperate to meet her. Gauri expression changed when she heard that name.

She thought about the day when she came across this name for the first time.

She couldn't stop her tears that day. Even though she wanted Omkara to live a happy life , she couldn't accept the fact that he forgot her too easily and fell for someone else.

At present , she wondered why would Warda want to meet her.Maybe it was something about Omkara . Maybe he wanted a divorce from her. Her heart bleeded when she thought about it .

Eventually she agreed to meet her .

"What brings you here Warda ? asked Gauri.

"Ma'am ,how do you know my name ? asked Warda suprisingly.

"Well if you date my husband and it flashes in the headlines , how am I not supposed to know ? asked Gauri sarcastically.

"NO ma'am , you're talking it wrong !!! I'm not dating Omkara sir ! It was all a hoax !

"WHAT?!

"Trust me ma'am ! And how could you believe all that ? I can't even imagine something like that. Omkara sir is my guru .

Gauri felt a little relieved listening to that but then she couldn't make out what made the young girl come to her .

"So why have you come to me ?

The girl's eyes welled up on that question.

"What happened ?! asked a tensed Gauri .

"Ma'am , ss...ss..sir needs you ... she cried.

Gauri stared at her confused .

"You need to come with me ma'am , please...I can't explain you right now. Please ma'am , please.

Gauri was quite hesitant but couldn't deny as she sensed something was definitely wrong.

Seeing the car moving towards the hospital , a wave of panic was rushing over Gauri.

"Why have we come to the hospital?!

"Ma'am ...please have patience...

Gauri didn't enjoy the girls silence at all . She was feeling quite furious at the girl for not telling her.

As they walked through the corridors of the hospital, Gauri's heart was thumping against her chest.

As the girl opened the door of a patient's room with teary eyes , Gauri was just praying that what she's thinking shouldn't be the case.

As she strode across , she saw a person on a ventilator. Tears stung her eyes and she collapsed to the floor the moment her biggest fear came true.

The patient was none other than Omkara.

Rising to her feet , she ran to see him.

"Omka..Omkaraji Kya Hua aapko? she cried.

Warda held her shoulder to console her.

She turns back to ask " What happened to him ?!?

She was about to say when the doctor came in for a check up . He asked them not to crowd the patient as it would complicate things. After Gauri told him that she is his wife , he gave a sigh of relief.

"Oh thankfully you are here Mrs Oberoi .

"What happened to him doctor ?

"Don't you know ?

"NOO

After he did Omkara's check up he called Gauri to his cabin for giving her the details.

Gauri felt someone pulled the floor beneath her when the doctor started speaking.

Omkara was suffering from NSC Lung Cancer . He was in the stage 3A and had acquired the disease due to excessive smoking . Due to improper medication for the past few days , they had to admit him in the hospital. He had asked the doctors to keep his disease under wraps but the doctors couldn't help informing his father and brothers this morning who were out of country. Due to his worsening condition , they'll have to perform a surgery to remove the tumor the next day. But it won't end there , since the risk of recurrence is fairly high , it'll be followed by adjuvant chemotherapy to address cancer cells which may have spread away from the tumor.

Doctors had been treating Omkara since a long time . There were quite a number of chances of him being cured , but the problem was , Omkara didn't have any will power to fight his disease. Many times , inspite of knowing his condition , he chose to smoke thereby making him reach this critical stage where his survival chance was a mere 50% . A person suffering from stage 3A of lung cancer had a life expectancy of 15 months only .

Gauri felt blank and was quite numb to react. The doctor told her that he needs mental , emotional as well as physical support to fight this disease. They would give him the best treatment but it'd be of no use if he doesn't have the will power.

While the doctor was telling Gauri about Om's condition , Shivaay and Tej barged in his cabin.

"Where's Om doctor ? asked a panic stricken Shivaay.

"How is he doctor ? asked Tej.

Just then their eyes fell on a broken Gauri. It has been around 5 years since Om and Gauri parted ways. Shivaay had tried his best to convince Om to get her back but he didn't heed to any request. That day had changed the lives of every Oberoi. Rudra and Bhavya broke up , as a result Rudra decided to leave the country and move abroad for further studies. He began to despise the idea of love. On the other hand Om pretended that he was all fine with what was happening. Shivaay kept telling him sorry for his mistakes as he felt that he was kind of responsible for their separation. But Omkara never said a word to him . As an elder brother he kept asking him to share his feelings and to allow him to talk to Gauri but Omkara kept brushing the matter.Nothing was same as before. Though Omkara didn't complain , Shivaay understood that his brother wasn't the same .He ate well , slept well but the only difference was that he didn't talk to anyone anymore. He didn't smile anymore. He stayed up locked in his room for days and hours . All he used to do was complete his consignments and the rest of the time paint Gauri . He built up an imaginary life with her . A life that he'd once dreamt with her reflected through his paintings. His room was filled with her paintings and he refused to come out of it as the room held memories of Gauri with him.

Shivaay brought numerous counsellors to attend him but there was just no use. Not being able to see his brother like this anymore, he decided to talk to Gauri , but found that she'd left Bareilly.

When Omkara came to know that Shivaay was trying to bring Gauri back , he fumed at him and warned him not to do anything as such again or else he'd do something Shivaay could never imagine. After that day , Shivaay didn't attempt anymore.

3 Years passed and nothing changed in their lives until one day , a 17 year old teenager Warda entered into his life. She was a brain tumor patient who had once come across Omkaras car and was just saved from a severe accident. A guilty Omkara took her to hospital only to find out that she was probably breathing her last . She belonged to a poor family and didn't have much for her medication. Omkara took up the responsibility of paying for her medication. In the process , she made a request to Omkara to teach her painting as she was quite passionate about it and moreover it was her last wish to create something different before she dies. Omkara rejected her requests for quite many days but he couldn't say no when she fell to his feet and told " Please Omkara sir , Shankar ji ke lie hume sikha dijie , please.

While learning painting, Warda discovered that Omkara smoked excessively .He wanted to resort to drugs but didn't as he had promised Shivaay , so he took an alternative and started smoking .

He took tuitions for her in his studio . People around thought Omkara was getting out of his room and was interacting with people only because of Warda. Jahnvi even had a discussion with Dadi about Omkara and Warda's marriage (sigh) .Shivaay despised the idea as he knew how much he loved Gauri and that Warda was too young for all that . Warda did have a little crush on her sir but nothing more. She respected him for everything he gave her. She also came to know how much love he had for his wife, Gauri inspite of being separated .

Around a year ago the media spread rumors about Omkara and Warda and that was when he stopped teaching her. Eventually Warda recovered but she never thought that her sir would be pushed into that hell now.

He left his house and started staying in a personal apartment. Everyone thought it was because he was too disturbed but the truth was that he'd discovered that he was suffering from cancer and he didn't want anyone else to know about it.

After Shivaay and Warda told everything to Gauri , she just wanted to cry. She didn't hug Shivaay as she was too disappointed with him. 5 years ago , when she'd left Omkara for betterment , she thought everyone would take good care of him just like the way they always did. But nothing happened as she thought. Instead of being happy , he destroyed his life due to her. She felt so guilty for ruining him.

Thanking Warda for informing her , she told them that she'd like to stay in the hospital with Omkara. Shivaay didn't say no as he knew that what Omkata needed the most at present was her .

Omkara lay unconscious , supported via ventilator when Gauri sat beside him holding his hand. His face was pale , the skin around his eyes darkened , he didn't have those chubby cheeks anymore and was skinny from top to bottom.

"Kyu kia Aapne aisa Omkaraji ? Uthiye , Hume jawab dijie... she cried.

After sitting like that for a long time , Omkara finally opened his eyes.

His eyes twinkled seeing her.

"Omkarajiii...

"Ssshhh he kept his finger over her lips.

He removed his oxygen mask and spoke softly.

"Roz aati ho aur kuch keh kar chali jati ho ...aaj kuch mat kaho...mai tumhe jee bhar ke dekhna chahta hoon." (Don't say anything today Gauri , you come and go everyday...but today , I want to see you to my heart's content )

He caressed her cheek. " Ro mat Gauri ...tum rote hue acchi nahi lagti...waise hi muskurao na jaise roz muskurati ho...kyunki ab toh tum mujhe sapno mein bhi nahi dikho gi..." (Don't cry please , You don't look nice weeping , please smile the way you do everyday, because after this day , I won't even see you in dreams)

"Omkaraji, hum sach mein aagaye hain...aap sapna nahi dekh rahe." (Omkara , I've come for real , you aren't dreaming )

She placed the oxygen mask back over his face.

"Kuch mat kahiye Omkaraji...please kuch mat kahiye...aapki tabiyat aur kharab ho jayegi ...please.."(Don't speak anything Omkara , else you'll worsen your health...please )

Omkara looked at her surprised. How did his life turn so good to him ? After 5 years the love of his life was sitting in front of him...now when he was going to die..

"Gauri...

" Omkaraji , aap please jaldi se theek ho jayiye...phir hum dher saari baatein Karenge.Hume Bahut kuch kehna hai aapse aur Hume pata hai aapko bhi Bahut kuch kehna hai...but please aap theek ho jayiye." (Get well soon Om , we would talk a lot after that. We need to discuss a lot of things that are left unspoken...just be alright soon.)

Tears flow down his eyes as he shakes his head in a no...it was too late probably.

" Nahi Omkaraji , please Humare liye..aapko theek hona hoga..." ( you'll have to be alright Omkara...for me !)

She hugged him and placed her head close to his heart.

"Hum aapse Bahut pyaar karte hain Omkaraji , aapko kuch ho gaya toh hum bhi mar jayenge...hum aapko chhod kar kahi nahi jayenge...par please aap theek hojayie... and she cried. ( I love you a lot Om , if sonething happens to you , I won't be able to survive...)

Omkara hugged her back by keeping his hand over her back lightly .

It was a very difficult situation for both of them. Gauri who had left Omkara never thought that he'd land up in such a situation. She left him because she thought he could be happier in his life with his brothers and also because she felt she'd lost herself while staying in Oberoi Mansion. She didn't know that the mansion was so cursed that it wouldn't even spare her husband.

On the other hand , Omkara who didn't want her to go through all those problems she faced due to her family once again , didn't know what to do when she was confessing her love to him once again. The moment he'd given up on his life and thought that death was near , his lifeline came back running to him.

Once again fate was playing games with them.

Gauri stayed by him the whole night. The next day whole of Oberoi family arrived at the hospital . Rudra had also come back to see his O. Gauri felt quite uncomfortable in everyone's presence. All she did was join hands , say namaste and sit beside Om. Well they didn't deserve even that.Dadi, Jahnvi , Pinky had begun to believe that Gauri was the reason of Omkara's situation. They even planned to throw her out of his sight but Shivaay and Tej stopped them as they'd seen how Omkara's health turned a little better after Gauri stayed by him.

After all that Rona dhona and family drama , the doctor asked everyone to leave the room as they'll have to make arrangements for the operation. Before leaving Gauri went to Om and kissed his forehead lovingly "Aapko kuch nahi hoga Omkaraji...abhi Mukammal nahi hua , Abhi Kissa Baqi hai , Jab dil apne par aaye woh wala Hissa Baaqi hai..." (Our lovestory is incomplete Om ...you can leave before it's complete)

Omkara smiled listening to his own shayari through her . He was glad that she still remembers it.

After Omkara was moved into the OT , the lady trio gave horrible looks to Gauri, but she chose to ignore. Anika came with her 3 year old baby boy and patted on her shoulder saying " Everything will be alright Gauri, afterall you are here...he loves you a lot Gauri and I know even you do...your Shankarji will never do anything wrong...don't worry !

Gauri wanted to hug her and cry her heart out but she chose not to as there were so many things to be sorted out between them.

She was just too disappointed with everyone and everything.

All the while Omkara was in the OT , Gauri cried and prayed to Shankarji for the operation to be successful. She wanted to mend so many things and everything couldn't be over in a fraction of second.

As expected the surgery was successful. For around 3 more days Omkara was kept in the hospital. He was allowed to go home only after a guarantee that he'd be looked after well. This time Gauri took the responsibility and promised that she'd take complete care of him.

She did go to Oberoi mansion for him but didn't mingle much with anyone. She knew everyone had their questions for her but she didn't want to create an issue about anything especially when Omkara wasn't doing well. Though his surgery went well , he had to undergo chemotherapy .And as the doctor said , he needed love ...and not family drama.

The first time she entered into their room after years she grew quite emotional when she saw that Omkara had decorated the whole room with beautiful paintings of her and them . He had painted their marriage , their break up , their confession , her bridal look ,her look when she broke his car , them carrying a baby in their arms , their old age etc etc . She just wondered how much love did he have for her that made him build up a world of his own.

Omkara's health was quite better since the first time she met him after years.He could manage to speak a little without coughing hysterically.

He was lying on their bed when she entered with a tray of food.

"Dekhiye Omkaraji , hum aapke liye kya laaye hain...Broccoli aur Tomato ka soup aur Oats." (See what have I got for you Omkara ; broccoli and tomato soup as well as oats !)

Omkara made a disgusted look. The meal didn't sound nice at all. When she came closer and held the spoon close to his mouth...

"Gauri , tum wapas kyu aayi? Tumhe nahi aana chahie tha ...mai jaanta hoon ki tumne in 5 saalon mein kitni taraqqi ki hai...tumhe sab chhod kar is jahannum mein wapas nahi aana chahie tha"... he told sadly. (Why did you come back Gauri ?You shouldn't have returned...I know how much success you've earned in these 5 years ...you shouldn't have left everything to come back to this hell !)

She cupped his face and told " Omkaraji , hum chaahe kitni taraqqi Karlein , woh sab humare lie aapse badh kar nahi hai...hum jaante hain hum aapko chhod kar chale Gaye the...lekin iska matlab yeh nahi ki hum aapko bhool Gaye.. .ek bhi pal aisa nahi tha jab humne aapko yaad na kia ho...aapse judaai humare liye kitni mushkil thi yeh hum hi jaante hain...aur aapko iss halat mein hum kaise chhod sakte the...yeh jaante hue ki yeh sab humari wajah se hua hai " saying that she started crying. (Omkara , how much ever I succeed in my life ,it really holds no value over you..only I know how difficult it was for me to leave you ! And , how can I leave you in this situation now especially when all this has happebed because of me!)

Omkara lovingly wiped her tears " Gauri , yeh tumhari wajah se nahi hua...aur Gauri tumhe sach mein wapas nahi aana chahie tha...mujhe apne aap par aur sharm aane lagi hai...yaha mujhe kuch hua nahi aur tum sab kuch bhula ke wapas chali aayi aur mai tumhe har baar maut ke muh mein dhakka deta raha...I'm sorry Gauri .."(Nothing has happened because of you Gauri ! You shouldn't have come...I've started hating myself for this ! You came running to me even though I'm fine whereas I left you to die whenever you needed me !)

She hugged him and said " Omkaraji please purani baaton ko bhool jayiye...hum woh sab kab ka bhool chuke hain...please.." ( Please forget the past Omkara ! I've already forgotten it !)

Omkara didn't say anything while she kept hugging her. He still felt that she deserved much more than wasting her time with him.

Days passed and Omkara's treatment went on. Gauri supported him through thick and thin. At night when he suffered due to persistent cough , she would pat his back and make him sleep , when he'd experienced a shortness of breath while laughing she'd run to fetch his medicines , she stood by him through all his illnesses...every time he felt fatigued he'd see her beside him . When he suffered from pleurisy she'd rub his chest , she didn't care about anything but him . Her job didn't matter to her anymore. With a little support from Shivaay , Anika and Rudra , Gauri was able to make Omkara recover quickly.

If few things were turning better , then other things were changing for worse. As Omkara continued with his chemotherapy , he underwent it's side effects.

After having a hot shower , he went towards the mirror to look after his hair. The moment he started combing , thick strands of hair came out in his hand . He stood petrified as more and more hair came out. When he looked up into the mirror , he noticed that he'd lost so much of hair that huge parts of his scalp were easily seen and only a few patches of hair were present here and there. He threw the strands of hair he was holding on the floor and smashed the mirror giving a loud shriek.

Gauri rushed to the washroom to find him crying under the shower with hair scattered all over the floor. She rushed to him and huggged him tightly. Omkara kept crying while she kissed him all over his face .

"Gauri...Gauri dekho na , mere baal..." (Gauri...Gauri...my hair...)

She hugged him tighter while he clung to her and sobbed like a baby. It hurted her to much to see Omkara like that. But this was something they could not prevent. The only thing he took well care of was his beautiful hair...almost everyone who met him envied how a guy could have such beautiful , thick hair. It pricked her to imagine her husband losing all of his hair and turning bald. If she felt so much pain , he would definitely be shattered.

After a few days , he'd lost all of his hair. He was so depressed by all this that he didn't want to come out of his room or even meet anyone . When Gauri entered with food for him he told...

"Gauri , tum chali kyu nahi jati ? Kyu mere liye apna time waste kar rahi ho ? Mere paas kuch bhi nahi hai tumhe dene ke lie...kuch nahi.." (Why don't you just leave Gauri ? Why are you wasting you time over me ? I don't have anything to give you !!)

Gauri was fed up with his constant attempts of pushing her away from himself.

"Aapko kya lagta hai ? Takleef sirf aapko ho rahi hai ? Hume nahi ? Omkaraji hume apne aap se door karke kya milega aapko ? Kya aap chahte hain hum mar jaye ?" she wailed. (What do you think Om ? Only you are suffering , not me ?! What will you get pushing me away from you ? Do you want me to die ?)

Omkara felt sad for hurting her. He ran to her and cupped her face " I'm sorry Gauri...mai bas...I'm sorry..." (I'm sorry Gauri..I was just...I'm sorry!)

He moved closer to kiss her. The moment he caught her lips in his , he felt a shortness of breath and started coughing.

It took around 10 minutes for him to turn to normal after which a disheartened Gauri decided with a heavy heart that she'd not come close enough to him unless he recovers completely. She craved for his touch and so did he crave for hers. But they didn't come close because of their own reasons.

Gauri didn't because she didn't want Omkara's health to be affected and Omkara didn't because he didn't want something so special to be ruined because of his disease.

"Omkaraji , dekhie hum aapke lie kya laaye hain " she bought a gift for him.(See what have I got for you Omkara! )

"Khol ke dekhie na"(Open it please... )

When he opened it , he saw a wig that resembled his old hair to much extent. His face fell when he saw it.

"Kya Hua Omkaraji ?(What happened Omkara ?)

"Gauri , kya mai ab accha nahi dikhta ? he asked with a gloomy face.(Don't I look nice anymore Gauri ?)

"Nahi Omkaraji , aap galat samajh rahe hain , hum toh yeh islie laaye the taki jabtak aapke baal phir waise nahi ho jate aap isko pehen kar pehle jaisa mehsoos kar sake. Humne aapki shakal se nahi , aapke dil se pyaar kia hai , aur chaahe aap kaise bhi dikhe , hume fark nahi padta...I LOVE YOU Omkaraji. " (No Omkara , you're taking me wrong ...I bought this because I wanted you to feel the same as you felt before..! I love you for your character Om , not because of your face ! I really don't care about what you look like...because I love you more than anything else !)

Kissing on her forehead he said , " I love you too Gauri...thank you for being there .

Months passed and Omkara recovered with Gauri's love , support and immense patience. Their love was indeed different . Gauri got her light of faith from her Shankarji and Omkara got it from Gauri. Unlike before , this time they both passed the difficult time with each other's love. They didn't need anyone else. Their love story was indeed an example of a love so pure.

After his recovery Omkara moved to Germany with Gauri...he loved his brother's and family a lot but at present he wanted to live a life that no one in his house could ever give him except Gauri. He wanted to give Gauri all that she expected from him.He decided to pursue his art career there while Gauri could continue with spreading her desi designs abroad. And if they ever feel like they'd come back.

After years of separation it was finally the day they both decided to become one.

Her heart was pounding. Her mind was racing. Her pulse was quickening.

He let out a sigh, and wrapped her in his arms like a blanket. "I'm just so afraid that I may accidently hurt you." his voice became tense, and he hugged her even tighter. "Promise me Gauri , that if I do something that you don't like, you'll tell me."

"Omkaraji ...please...I I've waited too long for this day...make me yours !I want to drown against you, our bodies woven together and raging in ecstatic synchrony. I don't want to lie in an easy, hollow embrace. I want to feel the hunger emanating from you. I want the desire to swallow me. I want it to hurt. I want you to show me that this matters. That we matter. That you would risk it all for me. Love me with everything you have or don't love me at all."

He got his turn on and the next moment he suddenly lifted her, and carried her in his arms until they got to their bedroom.

When they arrived, he lay her on the bed and proceeded to crawl next to her.

She smelled like passion; like irresistible desire and temptation.

"I want to make you weep. I want all your pleasure, Gauri, all your pain, everything you are. Come for me. ...whispered Omkara.

And both of them rocked the night as well as the following day.
