Did anyone else hated the ending of Madhuri-Salman-Sanjay starrer Saajan 1991? It was so stupid & illogical! Madhuri uniting with Sanjay at the end after all the romance with Salman throughout the movie just because he was the writer of the poem? Like W*F?!

Such a beautiful movie with some of the best songs ruined with a crappy ending!

Did not watch it. Dont plan to watch it either. 90's romance was cheesy.

Watch BkB: that has a fresh romantic buzz on it!

She was not in love with Salman whole movie, just second half.

I find ending ridiculous. both the heroes took her for granted and playing 'ping-pong' with her feelings. She wud have left both of them after slapping both.

i completely agree
i wanted madhuri to unite with salman at end. That pair was just awesome. story wise also the character should have gone with salman only

this movie is one of my favs mostly because of songs

and this was a huge huge hit which made salman -madhuri-sanjay more popular. AAmir khan still repents for rejecting Sanjay dutt's role in saajan.

Infact Sooraj barjatya cast salman and madhuri in hum aapke hain kaun after seeing saajan

I think it was the same in Mujhse Dosti Karoge.. I haven't watched Saajan but Hrithik in the other movie, fell in love with the girl writing the letters. He just assumed it was the prettier girl which was Kareena. But along the way, small things kept cropping up to show that there was something wrong. He just kept ignoring it because he thought it is nothing and unless you know the truth, you can't say exactly what is wrong. But when he realises it was Rani, he goes back to her. The spell breaks.

I think the point is that you fall for a personality and try to reconcile that with the person who is in front of you. You're not in love with this person, you just want this person to be the one who you fell for. But when you realise it is a fraud, you don't want anything to do with this. Salman may have been the better looking one, the more charming one or even the able one, but she didn't fall for these qualities, she fell for the poetry. And that was what Salman lacked. You can only distract a person from what they really want for that much time, later they will want that very thing which you can't give them. And if it is a fraud then it is that much worse.

But in MSDK, HR was shown to feel uncomfortable or weirded out with the differences.. He was shown to ponder why are there differences in the letter wali larki.. As his friend in London said, he talked more about Rani to him than the girl he was supposedly in love with
there were no such scenes in Saajan from what I recall.. Madz was heartbroken when Salman pulled off the little playboy stunt.. She never had any discomfort with regards to Salman not being the person she was supposedly in love with

On a sidenote: I never get how you can fall in love with a poet only because he writes beautiful poems.. He could be a 60 year old budha for all you know😆

Exactly! I was just about to reply the same theeki.mithai!

Madhuri showed no hesitation & kept romancing Salman dancing & singing to Dekha Hai Pehli Baar.. only when she got to know the truth, then suddenly her love for Sallu ended & shifted immediately to Sanjay right at the moment just because he wrote the poems? That was the most stupidest part! 😕

@Bold.. bang on. I'm sure if that was the case, Madz would've rather chosen Sallu only. 😆

Even I hate it. I dont understand how can can fall in love with a poet without knowing him, and then romance a guy so nicely, with no fights or arguments and still want to go back to the guy you didnt know at all.

Salman's character was a good guy, only thing he did was lie that he is the poet, but thats cause she was madly in love with that poet. IF given a chance these two wouldve been quite compatible with each other. But just cause Madhuri n Sanjay were in a relationship, they made her character go back to the poet.
