Oscar? For a movie on Self-immolation? 😕 Deewanay ka khawab. 😆 You know how PC those white folks are.

But no Filmfare for DP. 🥳

Can't take any review seriously who uses Hindu Muslim angle to criticise it.

NYT...issko oscar ki entry dilla deh...

Allaudin is a comic-strip villain, half-pirate, half-sociopath, all swaggering id. At least Mr. Singh looks as if he's enjoying himself he gets to grimace, gnash his teeth and rip the greasy meat off bones like a monstrous Henry VIII.

how trashy is SLB ...its good to see muslims spared him.

With the exception of a bad-seed Brahmin, the Rajputs are covered in glory here: Every action is a right action; their leaders, Padmavati and Ratan Singh, are models of beauty and refinement. The movie's Muslims, on the other hand, eat dirty, fight dirty and follow the lead of a marauding brute who dishonors his own wife. It may be cartoonish but it's also dispiriting.

I dont like to argue history because its mostly made up, but THERE IS a CLEAR religious angle. It wasn't islamophobic in any way but it was overtly biased as a movie.

Are the Rajputs in a large number in India for SLB to pander to them? I know we have some in Pakistan (converts). Now i understand why one of my good friends once proudly told me he is a Rajput (and i was like so?).

EDIT: Oh wait, i am sorry i just realized who you were. You have a history of bring religion into everything and bashing muslims and Islam. Please kindly spare me.

The fact that the muslims didn't raise hue and cry shows how much Khilji is important to them. 😉

Yes for sure, SLB's portrayal of Allaudin and Muslims is downright shameful. Nobody is saying don't depict all the wrong that Allaudin did - go ahead - but by resorting him to a cartoonish barbarian, the implication is that Muslims are, like their stereotype, uncivilized and uncouth.

😆 Yeah I sure expected NYT to understand the context of Padmavat esp a white woman. Boo hoo. Y'all make me laugh.😆
Still don't understand the hullabaloo about Khilji and his tribe shown in the light of a dirty brute tyrant and Rajputs shown in a better light. Its an adaptation of the poem lol. Get on with it. Am laughing at how she trashed the sartorial choices of ppl saying it plays no role and its their for beauty and she doesn't want to know them. Like what?! Its what happens when white ppl think they can critique a POC movie without no context of history and trying to place them in a 21st century ideal. This the white Swara perspective.😆
