No!
Sati and Jauhar are different...

And Villians do get meatier roles as they have more scope for the dramatics, which doesn't in anyway mean they are getting glorified...Same is the case with Ranveer's Khilji!

No.
I saw the film twice.
There is no glorification of either the villain or Jauhar.
Since it is the last scene, Jauhar , feels very epic. But the entire movie is epic, and not only that scene
And Khilji is shown pure evil. IN the entire movie , only Khilji praises himself. Everyone else hates him

I don't think so? Values and ideals in ancient societies were very different from those of today. I think committing Jauhar required an innate courage which was revered then. Even now, I do admire individuals who would die for their beliefs. Do I agree with it? Definitely not. But does some part of me admire women brave enough to commit it? Kind of.
I know this may be an unpopular opinion so sorry if I offended anyone!

There was no Sati in the movie...it was Jauhar...and with SLB's amazing directing skills...where he turned mastani into a vamp...I don't know what he has done that there is so much hungama over Jauhar which was a fact in old times...but SLB being SLB is capable of doing anything...
About glorifying Khilji...nah...i don't think so...he made Khilji look like a joker...kahan ka glorification..

I saw the movie last night and I absolutely loved it. No they haven't glorified Jauhar (not sati). The last scene was epic definitely but sad not glorified!

I did enjoy Khilji's scenes more cause he was interesting and unpredictable. But I hated him. He was pure evil!

The one thing that was glorified was Rajputs 😆 I was rolling my eyes every time their so called "aan baan shaan" was praised with some really tacky ott dialogues. Ratan Sing was a snoozefest that dude died only cause of his good for nothing Rajput Pride😆😆 He had numerous chances to kill Khilji but then Rajput ke aan baan shaan was more important that killing your enemy strategically!

Anyway it's an epic movie and should be watched on big screen! 👏👏

In actuallity Khilji was barbaric but not uncouth and SLB turned him into a joker.
It was Jauhar not Sati, since it was ancient times can not be compared to today's standards, even though I do not believe in suicide.

If people think Khilji was brutal, then should know about Yazid and his men.

1. Sati and Jauhar are different. Movie has shown Jauhar.

2. Almost everybody was aware of Rani Padmini and her bravery and her jauhar incident is already glorified in our hearts ever since we read about her in childhood. Movie showed what actually happened or what was already known to people. Rani Padmini's bravery was never for or in the battlefield, her bravery was known for failing the villains when they were this' close to victory. Hence the movie showed merely what people already knew or felt proud of.

3. Khilji was as menacing as it is shown in the movie. So no exaggration there too.

I honestly thought they glorified Jauhar, in the original poem - Khilji listens to the screams of the women. I wish SLB had retained that - I don't have anything against the practice as it made sense in that time but I wished he had shown it more as a horrific thing. I wished he had shown the ashes of the women who died.
About the villain - I don't think he glorified him, in fact he dehumanized him but I enjoyed that even though it seemed bit caricature-ish at times. Loved Ranveer's performance though😳

As much as I find that Bhansali and his stooges annoying, no the movie was rather non-controversial.
Jauhar was shown as something important hence few people took it as glorified, but whole movie was about Jauhar right? If there was no Jauhar, movie would have been fake.

As for Ranveer and glorification of Khilji, no he was not glorified but given more screentime and he absolutely took the ball and made a winner act.

Jauhar was the choice of women to save themselves from sex slavery or any kind of abuse. It was a reality of the past and I think women who opted for it were as much brave as the male warriors. Don't think it was glorified in the movie.

The only thing I really missed was an after Jauhar' scene. Wanted to see how a tyrant like Khilji coped up with his only loss in that battlefield? That would have been a proper closure to the ultimate sacrifice by queen padmavati.
