Hirani To Direct Varun

Some time ago, we had reported that Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan would work together soon. They were to collaborate on a film after completing their current commitments. Now we hear that the script they were working on has been put on the back burner. The two of them are still planning to work together on a project, only not just yet.

Now, the news is that after Hirani completes the Sanjay Dutt biopic, he will start another project with none other than Varun Dhawan in the lead. Another major surprise is that Hirani will be the sole producer. Up until now, the filmmaker has always partnered with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, as far as producing films is concerned, but now he's planning to fly solo. This film is set to go on floors in mid-January next year and will release during either Diwali or Christmas 2019.

This is the first time Hirani will have film releases in consecutive years. I wonder what his experience with Ranbir has been? Already planning his next instead of basking in the glory of his last release(I mean yet to release Dutt) for a year and then writing his next for two years. 😲

Looks like he doesnt want to take a risk like Anurag Basu.

Some RK fan wont be happy with this if true..they believe hirani only cast the best actors like RK and he doesnt have time for someone like varun

Looks like a reaction to Dutt. Hirani usually works on his screenplays for 18-24 months. Either this was ready before Dutt, or Hirani is planning a quickie.

And let's not forget what this means for Varun Dhawan. He's arrived and how.

oh my God hope its true.

VD started his career by working with mediocre or newcomer directors and still managed to not give a flop.

it will be amazing to see him doing films with known directors that every actor wants to work with

VD finally hitting the big leagues.

Had to earn it too, unlike a certain Kapoor scion who had everything handed to him on a platter and still couldn't make much of it.

Just woke up from alarm coz I wanted to follow Filmfare.

And here's something bigger than FF. Box Office India trades site often given legit news and I am so happy 😃

Varun really worked his way up from proving himself with new and flop directors(now in demand) to working for great choices.

6th year in Bollywood and already have worked with a range of Kjo, David Dhawan, Sriram Raghvan, Rohit Shetty, Shoojit Sircar, Remo D'Souza, Sharat Katariya and now Raju Hirani. But also worked with new guy like Shashank Kaithan who now is Dharma's most in demand director. Gonna with Abhishek Varman too. Best thing is also rejected films where he felt it won't won't and despite they were offered by big banners/directors such as Milank Talkies by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Anurag Kashyap's Side Hero, OK Jaanu, and now Nitesh Tiwari's next.

Go on Varun. Cant wait to hear official announcement of your 2019 line up!!!
