Quite honestly Mish, the writers did a really good job with Beyhadh because of its structured format. The last extension seemed a bit stretched to me, otherwise the show was on track for the most part. Did you watch the show regularly? 😊 Bepanah will most likely be another finite series as well. 😳

Not really Dazz. I watched it regularly at first & then followed it for Sometime.
But stopped later. It was not the kind of story I enjoyed & Kushal Tandon...😕
Hope Bepannah is finite, like you say.
If the role has been tailor made for Jennifer, hope the channel Promotes it well
& gives due credit to the makers & actors.
This is Colors & not Sony...my fingers are crossed.

What I enjoyed the most about Beyhad was how far the creatives of the show pushed the envelope for an Indian daily. It definitely wasn't your typical love story. I actually steer very clear of psycho thrillers, but I couldn't help be amazed by Jenny's performance. I admit her chemistry with Kushal wasn't the greatest although it was appreciated quite a bit by the audience. I wasn't a fan of Kushal's before either, but after the second leap I thought he performed quite well. 😳 I wouldn't pin my hopes on Colours. 😕 Don't you remember what they did to IKRS? Our show could've done so much better if the show had been promoted regularly. 😡 Luckily, Jenny and Harshad both have enough fans to draw a large audience. 😃

@Mish, sorry missed out on your question related to DSJZ. No, I haven't watched it.
But, I do read articles about the show. Smriti is getting rave reviews for this role.
IT seems that the show is going off air due to low TRPs, just read the article (news is still not confirmed though).

My concern exactly Dazz...how can we forget what they did to IKRS??
My point was Sony has done well with some finite shows & made history by bringing
a show back owing to fans demands / requests. Colors & SP have too much of an ego
issue & only TRPs matter, not fans They mainly compete to stay at the top.
(SP is the leader when it comes to abruptly chopping off shows for lack of TRPs. )

Hopefully, as you said the combined fans of Jennifer & Harshad should work in favor of this show
through out.

Ami, really annoyed with SP. They were aware of this show's script (an adaption of
Turkish show ) & the kind of audience it would attract, not the usual Saas Bahu type.
But they are super greedy for TRPs .
This is the biggest obstacle for any mature content driven shows on Indian TV.
I really wish they stop this Trp count & figure other ways of generating revenue
...like a Pay per view or similar exclusively for certain ( matured ) shows or
make such shows for the digital viewer only for a certain fee.
They have other options now than just bringing on a show & pulling it off at their mercy..

I agree with what you say Mish.
I also feel that now channels need to change this TRP game.
Channel needs to have mixed program wherein it caters to all groups. Something like 90% TRP related programs and 10% non-trp and slowly can change the percentage. Will take some hit in terms of revenue initially, but then it should work out in long run.
In this way, viewers will also slowly change and accept new things and then TRP for new content will be stable or increase.

My other question is lot of international viewers are subscribing to the channel packages. Channels are earning lot then why not take their likes/dislikes into consideration.
Channel is earning money both from India and also internationally..

Sometimes I wonder how Sony TV is surviving in terms of revenue. It has guts to take risks..

We can only hope for better.

Don't they all have secondary channesl as well? Star Plus has Life Ok, Zee has Zindagi, and Sony has SAB. Why not make content-driven shows on these channels instead of the repetitive saas-bahu sagas and sitcoms? All of these channels need to start catering to a diverse audience.

So true guys. about alternate methods for TRP!!!
you know earlier like some 5 years back regional languages like kannada used to have such good content in series but recently all these national channels SP, colors , zee bought most of the regional channels and now all you can see is dubbed version or same content with regional actors of saas bahu series!!
But must say Zindagi airs Pak shows etc so Zee is better there :)

@ Dazz...Life Ok is now Star Bharat, revamped with new shows. But seems like it's the same
trp battle there also. Nothing different. 😕
Oh, I didn't know Zindagi belonged to Zee. But atleast like Avani said, they have good
Pak shows on it.

Avani, I remember during my India visits, watching a few episodes of some good shows
with my parents on what is now Colors Kannada...especially those by TN Sitaram.
They would often talk about it.

And I also remember watching a few episodes of that Madhubala copy show ( forgot the name )
which I think was quite popular among the younger generation.

I really am beginning to wonder if there's anything worth watching on Indian TV at all anymore...
No idea of other regional language shows. But I do know many Hindi shows are dubbed
atleast in the south 😕
Where has the originality & creativity gone ????

I agree, Mish! I just mentioned my confusion regarding Laado 2 in another post. I'm wondering if Indian television is a write-off altogether for all of us here on the forum that are on the outlook for quality-driven content. 😳 With the exception of Behpana, I don't really have high hopes for anything else. I'm still a little weary about the show airing on Colours as opposed to Sony. More pressure for TRPs, but I really hope the writing team doesn't disappoint! I also think the Indian digital platform has a lot more to offer when it comes to good content. So far, ALT Balaji, TVF, and Bindass have come up with interesting shows. 👍🏼 Avani, are there any Indian shows that have been made exclusively for Netflix there?
