I'm pretty sure his career will be fine. As we know Pragati Vidya ka Mandir is a very weird school. Jaha kuch problems address nahi hote aur kuch problems ka response bohot zyada dramatic tareeke se hota hai. Ek baar Naina maaf kar de toh phir se princi poora kissa bhool jayenge😆

Hey , why would I feel bad...we are analyzing a character written by someone else...this is pure entertainment at the same time we get to study people and why ppl behave in certain ways ...what results in such behavior ...Naina is a very interesting character and I am glad you came up with this post because of which a lot of people's in sight abt her character could be understood.

When it comes to Behavior right and wrong is based on the rules and laws that the society has charted out . Between these absolute right and absolute wrong people tweak these for their benefits..and because shades of grey...and its the shade of grey in an act that defines people and their mental strength in character..so keeping writing and I will be more than happy to key in my thoughts.

No bad feelings at all :)

I am a late entrant to this forum and post...have read some of the interesting discussions on the group. I would say my views probably coincide the most with @werocktheworld 😊 and am happy that @braveheartdoc raised the thread and put forth some very interesting perspectives; i found all the various points of view expressed herein very fascinating.
I don't think i can add much by way of discussions because so much has already been written about this topic. 😆

Nevertheless, just a few thoughts!!

When stories are written especially love stories, writers try to build the characters which viewers, readers can empathise with. I can see the forum largely is very invested in the love story of Naina and Sameer and I presumed it was not only because it is a "love story" but because we empathise with the characters of Naina and Sameer. It is like we become voyeurs in this tale we emotionally invest because we feel this is a couple that is deserving of a walk into sunset boulevard. So, we when we invest our emotions, we are also trying to understand why each character behaves the way it does. What are their unique circumstances that cause us to look at them so lovingly or angrily. So when we look at some characters harshly, we sometimes forget what causes them to be the way they are.

A case in point is..Rakesh himself..no doubt..the character was designed to make the path of the love story of Naina Sameer difficult. Also he is written in a way that we feel very upset but just supposing there was such a character who was disgruntled due to his inadequacies in life, is it so hard to imagine that he will be miserable and makes others around him miserable? Yet in that tale, there are atleast three people who look at him empathaticaly..Chachaji, Naina and Arjun. 😆😆

When Naina fell in love with a Sameer who was least interested in her, somehow there was this rooting for the love story as we knew that as love stories go, this certainly fits the one pattern of most unlikely pair but will certainly fall in love with each other syndrome.
Sameer...did not cover himself in glory when we encountered him but we as viewers gave him the benefit of doubt while we empathised with his difficult situation, the situational lapses of judgement he found himself from time to time as also the genuine misunderstandings he was at the receiving end of. Yet, he did not make the path easy when he ended up making that horrendous challenge sometimes the youth in their folly do. So, while we understood that it was not a great start to their love story, we knew that he will definitely rue this error and will make amends. Rue he did and we are seeing him start his story in right earnest,

Yet if that was all there was to this tale, all it needed was just Naina to come clean on her hasty judgement of Sameer and they confessing that they have wronged each other in some form or the other and they forgiving each other and them living happily ever after. Finito...

But writers always like obstacle races...Luckily in life, we try to avoid some of them with some simple common sense or plain good old communication channels free from traffic. Yet the fictional world allows you to throw curve balls for people to catch or not and imagine paths to open up or close. We have in this story the female protagonist with peculiar circumstances as does the male protagonist. In that sense they are the kindred spirits. This story is interesting for this reason, Naina's circumstances that make her an interesting character. And as @werocktheworld so beautifully described the various aspects of her persona in one of the posts. Also another curve ball...while we are extolling Sameer's virtues now...my question is what if Naina was not the kind person Sameer sought in his lonely life...would he have changed for the better? Does that make the issue pardonable only in some circumstances and not in the other? Doesn't Sameer owe an apology to Naina irrespective of their love story just as Naina owes one to Sameer, nay the school for her subsequent knowledge becoming evident?

Personally, in a love tale, I never choose favourites...I love both parts to the tale equally and so I invest in it. I treat them as simple human beings just like all of us...we have the good in us and some bad too...😉 It is very tempting to evangelise and pontificate but the fact is we always only analyse from our level of perception.

One more thing...even while a lot of us may have interesting love stories of our own and they will remain for us the favourite ones...fiction lets us become pleasure seekers in other's love tales sometimes in very beautiful ways. Enjoy the romance till it lasts...in Hindi soapland, real satyanash is always around the corner...😆😆

happy viewing and satyanashing!!😆

Every individuals character formation depends on the upbringing and the environment in which he or she is brought up. If you see Naina as a child , she has every one except her mom. But these people whom she calls as family do they give her the affection that she needs??

-Her dad ,we know is biased to her brother. He likes her but has an archaic approach to girl child.
-Her Chacha , loves her but he has his limitations as he is not her primary guardian
-Her Chachi, loves her ..tries her level best to treat her like her own but not exactly the same. When it comes to spending for Naina you can clearly see she has her reservation.
-Tauji not a very expressive person. A total patriarch . Cant expect much from him
-Tayiji, for her Naina is a burden to the family. She has very openly said that Naina is not lucky as her birth took her mother away from the family.
-Then the siblings. Very affectionate to each other but do they stand up as a team ?? . NOPE.
Example: Preethi got caught changing the marks , she blamed Niana.
Arjun was the one who stole the key , he didn't even tell the truth when he saw his sister being pulled into the mess. A smart brother would keep his sister away from problems involving other guys.
Pralay , is the dear one of the family primarily because of Tayiji. He gets away with anything.

So this is her house. Now tell me how would this child learn to survive in such a household?? Imagine from the age of 2 years till the current age how she would have managed. She as an individual has likes and dislikes. Do you think that was completely taken care? Lack of her mother has played a huge part in her character formation. Even after having a dad , she lives with her chacha chachi. Basically this girl is living out of others mercy!! But the smart one understood a basic rule be good and others will be good to you. Will appreciate you. Study well and be perfect you will get noticed.

Don't tell lie but you can definitely manipulate to survive the situation is her mantra!! This can be understood , when she tells Preethi that if she plans to cheat by changing the marks atleast use a pen that is similar to that of teachers. She doesn't want to harm any one but she is cautious that she survives and she gets her pie of happiness

When it comes to a choice of your loved one against someone else you would choose your loved one. That is can also be called prioritization. Example : You have to go for a movie with your husband but then you get a call from your house saying one of your relatives not well. You choose to meet someone sick over movie. Does that mean love for husband is less. Now when we look from husband's POV , he took leave /came early from office spent time and money to be with his wife..but she cant make it..so would you call it wife being selfish?? Wife will expect her husband to understand the situation...understanding is also another attribute of a relationship.

Naina not choosing to tell about Arjun is because she prioritized her fathers pride above all. She did tell Sameer that she knows he hasn't stolen the paper. She also expects Sameer to understand her silence abt this topic ...but will have to see how Sameer would take it.

Naina not telling Preethi about her affection for Sameer. Its obvious , she is scared if family comes to know then things will be blown out . Considering the orthodox nature and the approach that they have to concept of love , she very well knows it will backfire. Preethi many a times have given away when under pressure. Be it the yellow Saree she got for Pooja or changing Marks on mark sheet.

She wanted to keep that feeling of being loved and cared close to her heart and enjoy the moment. She was feeling loved and she was feeling that Sameer is all for her and no one else.

Regarding Swathi , her wanting to play Juliet was pure womanly Jealousy rather than being selfish. She couldn't see him with anyone else. To top it all she knew that Sameer didn't love Swathi. She wanted him all to herself , to such an extant she was willing to take the role of a "Sepahi !!

Decisions that she took till date , she considered her happiness but she never thought it would backfire on others to such an extant. One thing about Naina is , she has solution for all her problems , but these solutions are more temporary in nature . She just wants to solve and move on. Never thinks about its affect in the long run. Which she will eventually learn. That's one learning she will do soon. .
She needs to survive in a family that is purely archaic in thoughts and very orthodox, she has the right to be happy . For once she chose her happiness above others by allowing her heart to wander around this happy go lucky handsome boy. Somewhere deep down in her heart she wanted to live his life. She fell not just for his looks but also for his I don't care attitude. He was getting all the attention in spite of not being perfect like her. So you see the contrast?? Naina is a teenager not an adult . She has lots of learning to do and am sure she will turn out to be a smart and intelligent woman.

We all need to understand , that being selfish is a part of being alive. Every living being has a grey shade of selfishness. It is required to survive , to face challenges and get what you want in life. But having said that one needs to understand ,the extant of grey in the selfish act is what makes or breaks a situation. It also defines mental strength of an individual.

Keeping the above lines in mind , the question you need to ask is
"Why should Naina be sorry for wanting what she thinks she deserves and not being afraid of walking away to get it ??
"Does she have it in her to get the right balance so that her selfish act doesnt harm her loved ones..that includes Sameer too??!!"
Well...ONLY TIME CAN SAY !!

Absolutely loved your post!!!

Wow... You have started a good discussion. 😃
And raised some valid points too.

My take is, both Naina and Sameer are the products of their upbringing. We all are. They both are real people with real flaws.

All human being has survival instinct. Naina's 'Miss. Perfect' facet is her survival instinct, it is her insecurity. Just look at preeti. She makes mistakes, not so good at studies. But she is not overly worried about them. Because she knows she is allowed make mistakes, her parents are with her. Naina lost her mother to death and her father to his amitions and her brother. No matter how much her uncle and aunt care for her, she will be insecure. Her being 'perfect' and not creating any kind of trouble, not demanding anything, is her way of making sure she does not get left alone or thrown out. And also a way of making her father notice her. Her fears and insecurities are no doubt irrational, but they are very real. And all of us, when it comes to survival, are little selfish. That is a very human trait to have.

Once again, great topic.. and thread. 🤗

Very well put thoughts..love to read more from you. 😊

Naina and Sameer have been very real, they could have been anyone around you.
That is what makes this story interesting. They are flawed and real. I would love to see them grow individually as a person and also together.

Very well written and in complete agreement with you. You have understood Naina.

At her very core is her insecurity, her survival instinct."What if I am not good enough?" "What if I score less?" "I should not demand anything" "I should not make any mistake" "What if I am left alone, like my father did?" "Will my father notice if I agree with him and be good as he expects?"

Naina and Sameer are real people with real flaws, just like people around us. And we could all use little Empathy. 😊
I am looking forward to their journey.

Exactly, Naina is like this due to her conditions and lifestyle..where as Sameer has always lived a liberal life. Even Preeti in this case has supportive parents
