Darkness surrounded him, 2 years had passed as he had sat in the darkness, alone.
His voice was raspy, broken as he downed water from the broken glass.

Blood dripped from his lip, his eyes closing in surrender
"You cant give up Neil " Avni's voice boomed in his head

A small dim light was thrown into the basement

And a picture, grabbing it he shone the light over it
"Avni" he gasped

The man laughed, standing infront of him now
"Happy Birthday Neil, take this as a present, you will die with the last thing you see being her face"


Neil yanked the picture to him as his captor walked away



A woman lit a candle, placing it on a high shelf
Turning around she felt a heavy presence on her leg

"Mama, mama" Ajay shouted
Avni picked him up
"Say happy birthday papa"

Her words bitter, her eyes pained as she turned on her heel and stormed away

Neil climbed out of the box, weak and tired he fell onto Avni who grabbed him

For so long she had felt cold, but this warmth she felt now wasnt comparable to anything else

She could feel herself melting into him, his embrace taking away all thought and concern

There was no way Avni could ever be so at home with anyone but her husband, she tried to muffle her sobs into his shoulder but failing she allowed herself to fall

Her body felt weak as she cried for his lost presence, warm tears dripping onto his shoulder as she pulled him closer, he couldnt be anymore closer but it wasnt enough

Then without a breath between her thought and her action, she shoved him back, her hand like ice on his already cold cheek


Neil jolted back in shock at her actions
"I f**king love you, you idiot, do you know what you put me through while you sent me to prison for a crime I didnt do, did you think about how I felt, where was your love and loyalty when I needed it the most"

Turning on her heel she stormed away as she felt her heart break all over again
