It was a fantasy fiction. Not based on reality and I dont think SSR ever claimed that it is anything more than an amazingly made commercial film. I think most people have forgotten the art of making good commercial films (in any genre whether action/fantasy/romance). SSR is the one of the few who puts in the effort to make good commercial films so its not surprising that Bahubali clicked. And am glad he has worked on his negatives over the years- misogyny in his films, lack of strong female characters, crass dialogues etc. You can tell his film making has refined over the years which is probably why I'd rate Bahubali over a lot of his earlier films. I'd actually rate part 2 over part 1 though the later had the better war sequence by a country mile because for once a director managed to get the drama, love story and female characters right. Which is lot more than what you get in 9 out of 10 commercial films.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both films but some parts made me laugh. 😆 The armor cannon ball especially.

Part 2's war sequences and VFX effects were definitely lacking in comparison to part 1's, but it was easy to bypass that as it had all the other elements done right. All in all, It was a fantastically entertaining commercial fantasy film done right! How many fantasy films have worked in bollywood? At the top of my head, I can't think of any. And just for that achievement alone, it deserves all the accolades. It managed to connect with the audiences on such a level despite being such an uncharted genre in bollywood is a huge achievement!

I find it grossly overrated, somehow watched the first one, didnt like it, found way too much male chauvinistic story. Both the females were reduced to being damsels. Didnt watch the second one.

I was watching clips of this old tacky movie. Kajol looked like she wasn't even enjoying this role. Her role as the twin sister was ridiculous,...
