Some attention? I thought the whole trailer was about the splendor, bravery and honor of the Rajputs all the while showing the other party as a crazy, barbaric loon.

during my academic year in school we used to have long debate over how palace of kings of rajasthan are still intact and how the palace of maratha warrior kings are in ruins...

and the major point which used to get surface is that the kings used to give their daughter or other valuable parts which made sure that the palace will be kept intact...like some deal...

and here in Maharashtra the deal was either i will kill you or will get killed...NO DEAL...

i don't know what is close to reality...

but do know that mughals at their end (siting example of Aurangzeb) left Delhi and made its headway to maharashtra as only stiff competition was coming from maratha...

The whole 1000 years of attack which India faced ...has its own debate and stories

in no way i am demeaning other kingdoms...else the debate will go haywire

Rajputs had no option but to compromise with their enemies. Rajasthan (basically ancient India's northern frontier) has constantly been under attack from invaders, from time immemorial.

The rest of India was relatively safe and Rajasthan had always been the most geographically vulnerable region. South was practically untouched for most part of the invasions and attacks (except Tipu Sultan's invasion who was just as barbaric as Khilji).

Rajputs, wantingly or unwantingly were forever thrust in the middle of wars. And it doesn't help that Rajasthan being an arid desert was lacking in precious natural resources, making life even tougher for the rulers and subjects there.

So it is but obvious, that some of the Rajput rulers wanted to make peace with the Mughals and later with the British instead of waging constant wars and dying in the process.

One of the reasons why Rajasthan's palaces and forts are still standing is because of its architecture and construction. Most of them are set atop high hills and were always difficult to conquer, leave aside destroy. Chittorgarh itself was supposed to be completely impregnable because it was right on top of a hill and had just one entry point. None of the enemies army could go up without being attacked by Chitorgarh's soldier's who were in a position of dominance because of being at such a height.

I am not a Rajput, but I think their contribution to India's heritage and history is invaluable.
