One Shot- || Piya, Piya Piya..||
He walked into the bar, let the door slam behind him and shuffled to the end bar stool. He sat down, removing his jacket. The unhappy lines on his face etched deeply. The bar-tender frowned as his usual jaunty customer, did not flash him the charismatic smile. The bar-tender simply went ahead and did as he was asked to on days such as these.
The voice of a lady saying something about the Karaoke echoed in the room. He paid no heed, much different to his usual cheerful behaviour.
Without a word the bar-tender placed the glass before him and immediately left to serve the other customers. He sipped from the crystalline glass in hand, with every sip her words echoing in his head.
The bartender simply placed another glass when he tapped the bar. The drinker now sipped the second drink more slowly, with no evident interest in those around him or the blaring sound system. He seemed confused whether to drink or not.
The terrible pang of his heart seemed slightly light though it was very much there. What hurt more were her words that seemed to run in loop in his ears.
She noticed another single guy at the bar, hunched over, ignoring everyone around him. She could make out from his body language that he was having a tough time emotionally. She had read numerous researches on human psychology and that was enough to tell.
She made her way towards him, an apple in hand.
She stopped as his face came into her line of sight. She was muddled in her dilemma. Retrace her steps or stick to her resolution?
Deciding on latter, she continued and stood beside him looking at the vivid display of exclusively designed glasses on display.
"Apple? She extended her hand towards her left, to him.
"No. He dint bother to look aside.
"Siblings se fight? Breakup ? Or Wounded ego? " she put forth her options for him to select.
"2 & 3 " he replied without thinking twice.
She hummed lightly in response. He looked up and glanced sideways irritated. Did he just answer to a random stranger?
As his gaze rested on the person, his eyes widened, he blinked thrice to make sure he wasn't seeing wrong. "Sumo?
She twitched up an eyebrow looking sideways, biting into her apple.Hmm.
He turned away, was he so drunk? Perhaps yes and his mind was playing stupid tricks.
"It's okay, it happens! she said gently patting his shoulder.
He stared ahead at the bottles in sight.
"She doesn't understand me! We spent so much time together and that's nothing to her, she is probably married of to that cheeky boy by now! What's worse is she doesn't see that it hurts me. "
She sighed.
"It hurts real bad, I know she spoke in a hushed whisper.
"I went all the way to stop her bit she still couldn't understand.. Her words..She thinks so low of me...! Bahut bura lagta hai! He was close to tears.
"If you feel for her, usse bataya kyun nahi? she took the courage to ask the question whose answer could be painful to her.
"Because...I was confused! he frowned rotating his glass.
"Still feel for her? another courageous question.
"I don't know! She smiled sadly, just her situation. Does she still feel for him?
"Go tell her if you do, sometimes it's to late. She looked away.
A pause followed.
"But, I don't want to go. He spoke frankly.
"Then.. she looked confused.
"Perhaps we were never meant to be? his eyes analysed the drops of the golden liquid on the inner wall of the glass.
"Wo tumne kaise soch liya? What if she is waiting? her expression grew serious.
He looked at her.
"Wait...Love angel Ka rule..I will close my eyes and let me see if I see her..!
She simpered cutely.
"What did you see?
His eyes were still wide with shock, taking a minute to put his thoughts into words, he spoke, "She was running behind me with a gun!
Saumya spit out the sip of juice she had just taken. What? Where were you running and why ?
"I was running somewhere, away from her, Wo Mujhe Maare Gi toh nahi?
Saumya burst into laughter. "Calm down, ye lo apple khao! An apple a day keeps the doctor away. she offered him the apple she was eating.
"But, wo police officer hai...ACP...Doctor nahi!
"Mr. Dumbell.. she broke into another fit of laughter. After months she had laughed that way. A wild laughter for no funny joke!
He looked at her grumpily, "Main yaah dhuki hoon, aur tum has rahi ho!
"Acha Sorry, I have a solution to your problem... Come
She dragged him to the stage where karaoke was going on. She indicated a person and he bought two mics. She handed him one.
"Summooo.. Too late she had already pulled him to stage and people had started clapping for them.
Rudra fakes his cool smile, waving his hand, "I cant sing!
"Screen pe lyrics aayenge, just follow! she whispered as music started.
"But, I don't even know the song! he protested.
"You do! she smiled.
Piya piya piya
Piya piya piya mera jiya pukare
Hum bhi chalenge saiya sang tumhare
Rudra smiled, for once he forgot everything, remembering the first time he had met her, he sang the lyrics looking at the screen occasionally.
chori chori chori
chori chori chori kaahe hume pukare
tum to basi ho gori man me humare
She smiled as they swayed and danced holding the mics in hand. Rudra pretended to walk away while she held his hand and pulled him back. While the crowd cheered.
ye chhup chhhup humse chale ho kaha sainyaan
Rudra mispronounced a few words and she covered it up for him. He pulledher free hand and swirled her as he sang.
ye chhab matvari ye mukh gora gora
Laughing they sang the remaining together.
piya piya piya mera jiya pukare
They handed over the mics as he smiled putting her hand around her shoulder, as they walked down while the crowd clapped.
"Sumo, kitna maza aaya..! tumhe yaad hai, pehli baar..
She cut him of and spoke the remaining, "Jab hum hospital mein mille thee..
He continued before she could finish, "...Aur tumne, paratha bhi...ek minute...aaj paratha nahi, aaple kyun?
She smiled simply, "Things change naa..
"Lekin somethings don't like US..! He said almost abut to hug her.
"This calls for celebration, he got two glasses, and offered her a glass of champagne.
She protested but he requested. She pretended to take a sip and when he was drinking she quickly drained it, getting intoxicated had left wounds that couldn't be healed. She couldn't risk it, again!
His drinks had already started showing effects.
"I will drop you home? she said supporting him as he seemed to sway unable to stand straight.
"No, let's go for a walk, the park close by is my favorite. He spoke cheerfully.
She smiled as she saw him happy. She gave in to his request knowing arguing wasn't an option.
He sang in a slurred voice as they walked on the grass, despite her repeated protests.
He was drunk!
He finally settled on the grass, and held her hand making a puppy face requesting her to sit. She saw around and sat.
"Taare " he smiled looking at the sky.
She gazed at him adoringly. Memorizing every moment she could.
A long silence followed.
"Thank You his lips curved looking at her.
"Tum naa...meri..bestest friend ho, Aur mujhe smajti bhi ho..wo bhi bahut ache se
She smiled back.
Their gazes remained locked.
"Can I get a hug? he asked her, little awkwardly.
She smiled and took him into a bear hug. He held her close.
Her eyes fluttered wondering why he hadn't pulled back. She slightly pulled apart only to find him sleeping. Smiling adorably she rested his head on her shoulder and wrapped her arms around his shoulder for supporting him. Closing her eyes she let the moment sink into her soul, as she sat under the starry sky, beside him.
His eyes flung open feeling water on his face.
"Finally! exclaimed his brothers in unison.
"How long have you been sleeping, any idea? mocked Om.
Shivaay snickered.
"Come'on get up, world war 3 is up!
"What? " he asked confused.
"the Oberoi Men Vs Oberoi Women! " announced Omkara grinning at Shivaay.
He sat up looking around. Itching his forehead he looked at his brothers.
They stared at him, as he gave them weird expressions.
"All okay?
"hmm hummed Rudy.
"When did I sleep?
Om and Shivaay exchanged glances.
"To be precise at nine you wished Good Night and left! answered Shivaay carefully analysing his younger brother's face.
"Oh
He remembered wishing them goodnight, and after that nothing, but Saumya! He was flabbergasted, was it a dream or reality?
He chose not to tell his brothers, until he decided for himself. He smiled at them, casually.
"get ready and come, okay! they left wondering what was up with their brother.
Dream or not, one thing was sure, he no longer felt the pain he was in a day before and somewhere Saumya still lived in his mind if not his heart! He sighed setting to find answers to the unanswered set of questions still looming in his head.
