Murugadoss has
established
himself as a hit
maker not just in
the south, but
also in Bollywood.
He has helmed
remakes of his
south Indian
blockbusters with
Bollywood A-
listers in the past.
While Ghajini and
Holiday, with
Aamir Khan and
Akshay Kumar
respectively, were
big hits, his
previous film
Akira was a dud at the box office.
Murugadoss is gearing up to start shooting
his third film with Ilayathalapathy Vijay. His
Dussehra release, Spyder with Tollywood
star Mahesh Babu in the lead has released
to mixed response and speculations were
rife that the director will remake the city-
based spy-thriller in Hindi with Bollywood
superstar Salman Khan.
Murugadoss, however, clarified saying he
will only make an original film, should he
collaborate with Salman. "Salman has a
huge following in Andhra Pradesh too. They
would be disappointed to see him doing
something they've already seen another
superstar do. No, I will make only an
original film with Salman, he was quoted
as saying in a report in Deccan Chronicle.
The same report also said he and
Murugadoss have agreed to do another film
together as soon as he finishes writing a
script that satisfies both of them.
Murugadoss's Spyder revolves around an
Intelligence Bureau official, who eavesdrop
on private calls to fight crimes, and his
efforts to stop a sadistic killer that commit
mass murders. The bilingual film marked
the debut of Mahesh in Tamil. Actor SJ
Suryah has received a unanimous thumbs
up from the media and critics for his
performance in the main antagonist role
that was seemingly inspired by Joker from
The Dark Knight. It stars Rakul Preet Singh
as female lead.
