favorite Govinda movie circa 90 to 2002

Govinda was the king of comedy during 90s. I hated SRK so much during 90s.. and the whole era was full of rom com and love crap.. yes don't get me wrong.. the music was great.. but it was Govinda and sunny deol's movies that got me through 90s..


Govinda was a star.. He gave so many hit cult comedy movies.. from ankhain to number 1 series.. He dominated the comedy genre.. the combination of govinda, kader khan and johny lever was just a joy to watch.. so many great funny movies.

I am planning a govinda movie marathon this weekend.. I will be watching one after another..

Govinda was one of a kind Superstar, almost like a stand up comedian. He was a true-blue "Entertainer" IMO. While nowadays I just see actors using the "entertainer" tag only to get away with their shitty acting.

Hero no 1 is my favorite Govinda movie

I didn't like bhagam bhag for some reason.. on paper it looks so good.. great cast of all funny actors.. all the comic elements of priyadarshan.. it's one of those movies that.. it felt like force comedy.. I felt the same about de dana dan..gharam masala.. Akshay movies..

Govinda actually was decent actor.. he had a great comic timing.. great dancer.. and something that often gets overlooked.. most of his songs were sang by sonu nigam.. he suited his voice..

He was far ahead of guys like anil kapoor and Jackie shroof..

I liked Bhagam Bhag because it was like a treat to me. I liked watching movies of Priyadarshan, I liked Akki and Paresh in comic roles and Govinda was one of my favorite actors making his comeback. The casting was like a dream to me which came alive.

But I agree the movie could've been alot better. Priyadarshan was trying to make a comedy murder -mystery movie. But in the end both the genres don't gel very well and it looks likes two different films. Priyan should have just sticked to comedy which is his forte.

But still the movie was pretty entertaining IMO, if you just lock your brain in the fridge while watching it and don't care much about the thriller part.
Bhagam Bhag is still much better than alot of comedy movies made in this decade.

Govinda was one of the most underrated actors IMO. No actor can ever copy his style. He could have sustained his career if he had reinvented himself. Sad to see him struggling nowadays.
