The feminist card[VB note:pg 14]

Before anybody jumps on me with assumptions-
a. I have been for the last one year associated with campaigns for the rights of women in India.
b. I am not a fan of Hrithik or Pancholi.

I just came across Kangana''s statement about Pancholi and that he used her. But wasn't she using him too for a career? From a young age we're told that getting involved with married people is highly immoral. She knew he was married. So is it that my sin is holier than yours?

The men in question are jerks, no denying butAnybody who slightly actually wants to empower women doesn't get involved with another's husband. The husbands are assholes to cheat, but both parties deserve equal blame. Kanagana didn't do it once, but about 3-4 times. One time can be called a mistake, what about the rest? Is she really that goddamn innocent to get manipulated that easily?
Also, everything she's saying just loses credibility as it is only coming out during her movie releases and that's the cheapest promotion tactic ever. Making yourself look like a victim for attention is no feminist move.

It angers me when actresses like her, who do absolutely nothing to actually empower women, claim to be equality fighters.
Also please keep the "outsider" thing out of here because I don give two shits about nepotism. As long as I get a good movie during my weekend idc about how the actor is actress got there as long as they're good at their job. And many successful people are outsiders, for example, Deepika, Priyanka, Vidya and lately Kriti.

Tell me about it.

I absolutely hate this idea of pseudo-feminism where, to protect herself from many allegations, she brings out multiple issues.

1. She wasn't minor for all 3 yrs she stayed with Aditya P. It was friends with benefit system. So it cannot be justified in the first place. Also, if abused, one should approach police, not the wife of the abuser. However, by bringing the minor issue, it opens a can of discussions on her character itself because the fact is something else and that she wasn't a minor AFAIK. Anyways I could be wrong since her versions keep contradicting each other but again, this cannot justify her staying with a married man for 3 yrs of adulthood.

2. Rape issue - WOW I mean that was really something. I have a problem with my colleague in office and now I feel threatened because Kerala case shows the extent of a male can go to avenge. ... Was she even listening to herself at all ???? This was a deliberate attempt to fan the feminists which again, has nothing to do with the case.

3. Connecting the whole HR case to the above issue again gives her an opportunity to escape the embarrassing question of WHY she was involved with a married man in the first place. This compels me to think she is amongst those who use the issue feminism to save her own image.

Will post more later once free. But if at least ONE person from BW is actually a feminist and pursuits it, that has to be Sushmita Sen and THAT IS ALL. 👍🏼

That is what i said in the other thread.

Pancholi and KR shared a quid pro quo arrangement. She did not tolerate his abuse due to goodness of her heart etc. but because, she needed him to make a BW career. She ran away from her home and she knew no way in earth will her parents take her back if she calls them; and tells them about the situation. She was stuck, because she wanted to enter BW by hook or by crook.

And, i am appalled by the use of the word 'feminism' by every tom dick and Harry to get people riled uo and support them. These psuedo-feminist are a reason that the word is being used a tool to promote misandry rather than what it actually stands for.

I understand how difficult it becomes for those women who are in dire need of help but cant do much about it. Actresses in no way empower women when they come out in ooen and tell about their relationship wuth married men. How is that empowering? Yes, Hritik is no saint but so is Kangana.

But where has she said she is holier than thou? Wasn't her statement with respect to Pancholi was regarding physical assault? Also, Kangana started the episode by saying she is not a pious, pure lady so I don't see her projecting herself as holier than thou.

Secondly, the society only sees the women immoral when they are in an extra marital affair. Even I think no one should be involved in an extra marital affair but even in this forum, where people claim to be so intelligent and advanced, I've only read posts bad mouthing Sridevi, Raveena and Kangana. No one's sin is holier than the other's but for that we need to start blaming the married men too who indulge in extra marital affair. Look at the Shweta Basu case, were any of the other parties involved (obviously men) even brought to book or revealed to the public? Now in instances like these, if this bias is spoken about, it's unfair to label it as playing the 'feminist card.'

And lastly, just a general observation and not topic specific, how do we know that these actresses are not doing anything for empowerment of women? What might not empower you might empower someone else. Just because their idea of feminism and empowerment doesn't suit yours, saying that they do NOTHING is pretty unfair if not anything else.

ETA: Also, why are the men 'probably' jerks and not just jerks? Why is there a doubt only when it comes to men but a woman is DEFINITELY playing the victim and feminist card and manipulating people!

If you're being assaulted, who goes to the wife of the offender? You just go to the police. And why all this hue and cry only when her movie is coming out? And I see all the hate only for Hrithik not Kangana so idk what you're talking about.
As for the last part, that's my mistake. I will edit out the probably but I like how you conveniently skipped the next part where I said that the husbands 'are' assholes to cheat.
Selective argument A1.

Well, It is just easier to say that she was trapped or that she was in love. People use their tinted glasses when it comes to supporting people like Kangana who has probably used every means in the book to get that required boost in her career.
She has been trying to paint herself naive but she is no Red Riding hood. Also, even if she was then
Image result for fool me once

It just seems so funny that she didn't mention any of it during Rangoon but this time, this is all she's talking about. Why? She rides on controversies and plays the convenient Psuedo-feminist card as and when required.

But what I am liking is that unlike the last time, this time people can see through her ploy. I see more reactions against her on social media. I saw many comments on the links shared by Storypick, Scoopwhoop etc where people are calling it a publicity stunt for her movie which has negligible to zero buzz.

Honestly, IDC, if HR and Kangana had an affair or not but calling all this women empowerment and shizz like that, is insane. This is cheap mud-slinging sth which politicians engage in. If she really wants to prove this, she should go ahead with the legal proceedings and prove it in the court that those emails were not sent by her. She's coming across as Tanu from TWMR2. Illogical and Sans-any sense.😆

Also yes, my idea of feminism is definitely different from Kangana's and I couldn't be happier about it. I teach abused women to make a new life with integrity and hardwork. Not by using the east route of sleeping with people.
Again, not justifying the men in question.

So many valid points in this piece

Thumbs up from me Aish!!!

Finally @PK- you always have so much relevant things to say and personally have to agree that I come closest to agreeing word to word with you in comparison to anyone on IF. You always make sense.

The term feminism is seem to be exploited by Kangana and her supporters

Kudos to you 👏
I have been involved in the same and yes feminism has lost its actual sense as it is used a tool to justify every wrong thing done by women and blaming men for the rest. We ar surrounded by deluded people who have no idea why did the idea and feminism started as a movement.

Kangana only talks about how badly she was abused etc. Only when she has a movie to release.
I liked her as an actor but all these sob stories are really getting on my nerves now. She is painting herself as this wonderful lady who went through so much and made a name in BW despite being an outsider. But, is she the only outsider we have who has made it big in BW. Apart from her no other 'outsider' has ever used such tactics to gain limelight. She ks really pissing people off now.

Thank you for the topic. For awhile I thought I was one of the few who saw how dangerous and self serving her brand of fake feminism is. Feminism is a hard enough concept for some to grasp, here she comes to muddy it and for what?!?!

Now I can stop replying to the other threads of supporters claiming her as a hero and praising her bravery! It was getting lonely out there!

You and I are not opinion makers.

The opinion makers are all powerful. They reach millions..

I remember during the cleavage controversy of once a Kingfisher model Deepika Padukone ..she got overwhelming support from anyone who is somewhat famous-to the most powerful..

KJO and HR are big losers here..They have no one to defend them.
