I saw the movie last week and I was really surprised to see old folks in their 60s in huge number in the movie hall that day because normally whenever i go to watch a movie i usually the same college crowd.

the movie was really good. i have become a bigger fan of Ratna ma'am after this movie. she nails every genre she does. even i did not like that miley cyrus fan.

Ratna pathak is class apart. I have always liked all her roles, whether it was maya sarabhai or the mothers role in kapoor and sons and khubsurat. She does it with grace.
In an interview of hers she said she has never rejected any roles and hardly gets movie offers so she does theatre in her free time. I was surprised. Its sad to see that in BW an actor like her not getting much offers🥱

Yes, in her interview with Miss Malini she said she doesn't get offered many movies and the same happens with Naseeruddin as well.😲 You are right she has such grace and her personality is truly amazing. all the interviews i have seen of her make me realize how grounded and sassy she is.

Finally watched it yesterday. Great performances especially Konkana and Ratna Pathak. Both of them deserve to do much more films.
May contain spoilers

Story wise Konkana's part was very disturbing. Sad that few women have to lead that kind of life.
Leela's character looked similar to the ones we have in many movies. And Leela's mom's job is it for real?
I wished for a happy ending where we would see all of them fighting for their rights and leading a. Happy life.

I saw AIB's podcast and the team there said that they all had shot separate ends to each of their stories. but, when they saw the film they realized that this end was indeed perfect because if like all the other women centric movies they would also show some revolt then the film would have lost its originality and reality. so instead of a happy/revolt kind of end where everything falls into place, they chose a chilled out moment between the four discussing their lives.

I absolutely didn't get the concept of the film. Feminism ...oh sorry... women empowerment means only right to have sex? Really?
I honestly didn't get the concept. The actors might have done a decent job but the message went over my head after blowing my head. Sex scenes and all... fine. But what absolutely is the concept?

Bua ji remained bua ji throughout her life and couldn't have sex. Right? So she sex chats with a youngster?
Leela is getting married to someone else but has sex with someone else , so she's in a dilemma because she understands the husband won't give her that pleasure in having sex. Right?
I can understand Shirin and Rihana's part a bit better though.

But not Bua ji's and leela's part much. Why does womanhood in their case come down to having sex only?

Penfolk I haven't the film but I heard that the film talks a women having sexual fantasies like women are suppose to shy and not think about sex. If they desire sex then they become characterless. I haven't watched film will be in better position in giving my opinion after watching the film.

Bua ji became a widow at a young age and society expects a lady of certain age to not have any sexual desires and only do satsang. if you would have noticed the part where the guy asks her name she hesitantly says 'usha' as if she had forgotten her name and her whole identity was only to be bua ji and not a woman who has desires. it is a taboo in India for women in their 50s or even 40s to have desires let alone be it of sexual nature. moreover in the starting of the movie when a man who is also a widower calls her bua ji (the man was much older to her) and she is told that he is looking for a woman to remarry who probably should be in her late 30s and early 40s. when men can openly look for comapnions/sex partners why can't women?

about the girl leela she is the one who 'enjoys' sex and is open about it. this again is a sensitive subject as indian girls are told not to think about sex etc etc which is a serious issue. why? because there have been many instances where the girl after marriage also is unable to enjoy sex as all her life she is told that it is bad thing etc and this has led to psychological issues and marriages have ended in divorce.

Do you know according to Indian law if a woman continuously denies her husband sex then it amounts to cruelty and is a ground for divorce in many cases? so you see if men can be vocl about their sexual desires then why cant women?
