Adi Shankara excelled in glorifying the Shiv Shakti tatva in his Ardha nariswara stotram. Despite The contrast in their personalities the unity and inseparability of Shiv and his Shakti make them Ardha nariswar the unique supreme power that exemplifies Purusha and Prakriti in one body and soul.

Always admired Adishankara's excellence in choosing the right words that convey the sense in an eloquent manner.

Salutations to Shiv and Shakti for being the parents of the universe through their Devine love.

Translation of Slokas

1. My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her whose body shines as bright as molten gold, To Him whose body shines as brilliant as camphor,
To Her who has a well made up hair, And to Him who has the matted locks.

2.My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her whose body is smeared with musk and saffron, To Him whose body is smeared with ashes of a crematorium,
To Her who radiates love through her beauty, And to Him who destroyed the God of love (Manmadha).

3.My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her who has pretty tinkling anklets, To Him who has the king of snakes (AdiSeshu) as anklet,
To Her who shines with golden bracelets, And to Him who has snakes as bracelets.

4,My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her who has eyes as wide as the blue lotus, To Him who has eyes as wide as the petals of fully blossomed lotus,
To Her who has symmetrical eyes, And to Him whose eyes are asymmetrical.
(Her both eyes always look at same things together. His third eye will not be always open as his other two eyes, when its opened, it causes maha pralay)

5.My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her whose hair is decorated with sweet smelling divine flowers, To Him who wears a garland of skulls,
To Her who dresses in great silks, And to Him wearing the eight directions.
(Digambara - Dik means direction, Ambara means Cloth.)

6.My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her who has black hairs like fresh rain cloud, To Him who has copper matted locks resemble the color of lightning,
To Her who is the supreme goddess of the mountains, And to Him who is the Lord of the universe.

7.My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her whose dance marks the creation of the world, To Him whose dance indicates destruction of everything,
To Her who is the mother of the universe, And to Him who is the father of the universe.

8.My salutations to both Parvathi and Shiva,
To Her with glittering ear rings of gems, To Him who wears a great serpent as an ornament,
To Her who is divinely united with Shiva, And to Him who is divinely united with Parvathi.
