But the floods happened because dam operators covertly release dam waters to prevent breach. At heights of 5-6000m like in the mountains, no amount of rainfall can cause floods otherwise and no, rivers don't get blocked just like that either. The only blocks to rivers are manmade dams.

You see this all the time now. Recently, India has accused China of releasing water surreptitiously from their dams on Brahmaputra river causing Assam floods. That Assam is situated in a depression area is another reason too though.

That was not the sole reason of the calamity. The region experiencd pre mature rainfall due to the winds when blew the monsoon from I guess Rajasthan to Uttarkashi. This further led to cloud burst. The main reason of the floods was the presence of a lake like thing at one of the glaciers which was basically a large pit collecting dirty water from the melting ice and rainfall year after the year. It consisted of million litres of dirty water. When a huge block of ice fell in the said pit, it led to breaking of its structure releasing all its content into the valley. Thus aggravating the already disastrous cloud burst.

Moreover, recently due to heavy rainfall most of the areasnear the ghats in Haridwar have been flooded.

^^ I'm the only person saying that UK floods happened due to water released from upstream dams. No one else ever said it, certainly not the govt. So it's on me. Others free to believe what they like.

And Haridwar lies in plains so floods nothing out of the ordinary.

Yes, I know you said it and that's why I told you what I found out after watching thediscivery documentary on the same.
And, yes Haridwar is a plain region but, flooding in mountains has become a common thing due to frequent cloud bursts.

Sushant is picking interesting projects. I hope it works out for him. Disaster movies can work big time in Bollywood with high budget if the movie is well-made. Hollywood movie 2012 was a big Hit in India.
