Imtiaz Ali, who is known for his unconventional love for cinema is ready to woo again his audiences with his next venture Jab Harry Met Sejal. On his recent rendezvous with us in the capital city, Imtiaz reveals what went wrong with Tamasha, what makes him believe in flawed love stories and how self-discovery must be the key in his movies.
Undoubtedly, Imtiaz Ali is touted to be the only director who doesn't believe in showcasing a merrier image of love stories because he feels they must come with flaws. "Flaws are the only things that are beautiful. That is the only thing that makes you different from anybody else. says, the Rockstar filmmaker.
Ali also opens up on his favorite movie Tamasha and agrees to the fact that he went strategically wrong about its trailer that resulted in giving a rather deceptive outlook around it. But he has also learned his lesson well. "In JHMS the trailer is very true to the film. I do realize in Tamasha it wasn't, and it was a mistake. That was a strategic mistake." added Imtiaz.
The Highway director is always up for self-discoveries when we look at his central characters. So, what exactly is the deal there? Explaining its relevance, Imtiaz says, "It must be so important because it's seen very often in my films. And I think I make movies because it is fun and everything else is just an add on to that. So, when you are in a state of almost revelry inside, then you become very basic. And in that stage, it is possible to figure out who you really are. So, I can see some sort of self-discovery for all my characters and in some sort of way, I feel it must be happening to me."
